Ween.  Some of their songs might be weird, tasteless, twisted, and arguably, complete crap, but a lot of their songs are very good, and they are talented songwriters with music that posesses several progressive elements.  Plus, they've got one of the most original sounds I've ever heard.  I think they should be added to the archives, they're even mentioned in "A Definition of Progressive Rock" here on the site.

Yes or no?

I wonder if they're too goofy ... I only know Chocolate & Cheese, and I've always seen it as a comedian album. The music is VERY simple, IMO it's not complex enough to qualify as Avant-Prog or Experimental Rock.

Which albums would you recommend?

The Mollusk and Quebec are my favorites.  They both display obvious maturing in their music, less pointless dialouge and 'joke' songs and more good music.

Their music is rather simple, but its also very unique, and they blend more styles of music on their albums than any other band I can think of.  When I stack their exceptional songs up next to their joke songs(for lack of a better term), it seems like, in my opinion, they're extremely talented musicians who like to have fun and don't really care enough to compose a masterpiece, and would rather fufill their twisted senses of humor.  At least in their earlier albums.

IMO, they're quite progressive, though I'm not completely sure they belong in the archives, which is why I'm posting this thread.

Bloody good (and funny, if often far too offensive), but I don't see a place here for them.
