Please keep voting to put this album in first place... The songs are magnificent, and letters can make anywone shiver... THEY ARE THE BEST BAND IN THE WORLDDDDDDDDDDDD. PLEASE VOTEEEEEE...

YES - Close to the Edge (1972)
Review by João Matos @ 3:44:01 PM EST, 5/6/2005
0 stars  —   Buy the holly mother of god... How can this [&*!#] be in first place? The album is so bad BUT SO BAD... the vocalist is a gay... The songs are stupid, and the letters don´t make any sense... Yes is definitly the worst band of progressive metal, they not even are progressive metal, maybe they are some sort of jazz funky, BUT THEIR NOT DEFINITLY PROGRESSIVE METAL... PLEASE, TAKE THIS sh*t OF THE FIRST PLACE AND PUT DREAM THEATER - IMAGES AND WORDS... THIS ALBUM SUCKS A LOTTTTTTTTTTT

Can we take seriously these reviews? Clearly a fanatical attitude.

I am new to the site and forum. The site is excelent and I am enjoying every day, but this kind of attitude lets me sad.

Can any moderator avoid that in the reviews?

Welcome, Asiostygius (that nickname is a mouthful! ).

It makes me sad too. Keeping the review section open to the public is a wonderful thing but it also means that these types of things slip through from time to time. All we can do is report these reviews when we see them and let the people in charge of the site make the decision to delete them.

SPITE SPITE SPITE SPITE SPITE SPITE SPITE  SPITE SPITE SPITE SPITE SPITE SPITE SPITE

Yes...

...the worst progressive metal band, who should be removed from first place because they are "some jazz funky" and not progressive metal...

...the band with a gay vocalist...

...the band with bad "letters"...

First of all Joao, the "jazz funky" you are referring to is called progressive rock.  It can be defined as an ambitious, eclectic, and often grandiose style of rock music which arose in the late 1960s principally in England, reaching the peak of its popularity in the early 1970s, but continuing as a musical form to this day. Progressive rock was largely a European movement, and drew most of its influences from classical music and jazz fusion, in contrast to American rock, which was influenced by rhythm & blues and country, although there are notable exceptions in the New World such as Kansas and Rush — considered by many to be the finest examples of the form.

Second of all, this definition was copied directly from Progarchives.com.  This may come as a shock to you, but "jazz funky" is the genre of music that this website revolves around.  Progressive metal is the shallower little brother.  Good as Dream Theater are, their songwriting is not nearly as fluid and classical as Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd, ELP, Supertramp, King Crimson, Jethro Tull, The Moody Blues, Marillion, Magma, Kansas, Procal Harum, The Beatles, Queen, or Aphrodite's Child.

Thirdly, Jon Anderson, the vocalist, is not a gay.  He has a wife named Jane, who travels around with the band when they are on tour.  Freddie Mercury (the vocalist of Queen) was gay, and (along with Jon Anderson of Yes and Roger Hodgson of Supertramp) was probably the best rock vocalist who ever lived.

Lastly, look up the word "lyrics" in the dictionary.

Of course they ARE!!!!

they sometimes have uptempo parts

p.s. I can't stand YES myself, but I've always kept respect for them as musicians!

SIGUR RÓS Ba Ba Ti Ki Di Do EP* progressive rock album and reviews SIGUR RÓS - Ba Ba Ti Ki Di Do (EP)* (2004)
Review by ProgLucky @ 7:14:11 PM EST, 5/19/2005
1 stars  —   To whom it may concern,

STOP ADDING BOOTLEGS, EPs AND INCOMPLETE ALBUMS!

Read the rules.

It's not allowed... bootlegs, EPs and incomplete albums. Please realize that we log the user and timestamp for every release that gets added in the database, so we know who does what. And we systematically ban people who fail to follow those rules. You add a bootleg & EP, you get banned. You add an album with uncertain or incomplete tracklisting and line- up, you get banned.

Thank you for your comprehension.
