Why is it that when I have loads of calls to make for work, I'm sitting here posting and cleaning up my i-tunes and creating new playlists and generally arsing around

Why is that we always put off what we can do.....

hmm i think i'll finish this thread at a later da

It's taken me almost two years to decorate my living room and kitchen in my flat. I had a fitted kitchen put in 8 months ago, and have still not chosen the tiles to go on the wall. I look at it sometimes and it gets me down. The kitchen wall looks like Iraqi insurgents have had a shoot out in there! Then I just put on some music, park my backside in a chair and do nothing about it. I'll get round to it..

If you ever need lessons in putting things off, I'm your man.

I seriously need a f***ing life coach to kick me up the arse!

is that "arcing" around!!

I'm exactly the same.  A few weeks back I woke up at 4am worried about some work I had to do.  What do I do...I spend 75% of my time looking on the web instead of doing the work.  I love procrastination, but it can be a pain in the arse sometimes and you really want to get things done, but can't be bothered!

No work is so important that it can't wait until tomorrow.

I woke up at 4.00am last night thinking: 'God, I really dont know how much is in my bank account!'

Now why would I wake up thinking that?  More to the point what can I do about it at that hour? Nothing. Procrastination can be a very bad thing, if you actually 'need' to get something done. If you leave it, it just starts eating you up! I reckon I have smoked too much sweet Mary Jane in my life...

And why not, thats what I say.

I spent years at the sharp end of business rushing around playing the corporate game. All I had to show for it was poor health and bad moods.

Chucked it all in. I am now a firm believer in the maņana lifestyle. Much better to spent time here learning more about prog, watching the cricket, enjoying life, putting things off.

Procrastinate away.

I don't think it helps.  When I take a rest from it for a while, I can get my head in order (I can actually walk into a shop and remember what I came in for - plus you can concentrate better).

perhaps these mundane things we do in life are the problem and we need to get out and climb mountains or live in jungles or something!!

The weed makes things alot worse. I smoked it for over 15 years almost every day. I only gave it up earlier this year, and although I do feel more focussed, my short term memory is terrible, and I find myself slurring my speech and forgetting words.

Sure helps with prog appreciation though..

You wont get me climbing moutains, but the more active you are physically, the fitter you'll be mentally/emotionally IMO.

Going to start a sweepstake when you'll get round to making this call. Ever the optimist i'm going to say one day this week.

I've got a presentation I need to give in 12 minutes, i'm not ready yet and I am still in this thread sending useless messages..

^^ woo hoo meeting cancelled, i'm back again.

Further vindication that procrastination and total lack of preparation can pay off sometimes.
