They have been added to the archives. All rejoice! (I wonder who could have recommended them in the first place.............. )

From what I've heard by them that's a pretty sensible move. I hope they stay.

They might suck, but they're certainly progressive.
Edit: They've gone now anyway.

In fact, I was listenin' to a Co&Ca live EP, and during an extended
instrumental improv, Claudio said "This is what the British would call
prog-rock w**kery!" to cheers.

Joren: I don't know why he should've asked. Bands like
Neutral Milk Hotel that are DEFINITELY not prog are still around, but I
assumed from previous threads on them that Co&Ca are considered
prog, but some people don't like their aesthetic.

I didn't say he should have asked, I said he could have, because he's complaining about how much work it was... for nothing. I think most people knew that Coheed and Cambria were controversial (they have been discussed before, many people AGAINST adding). So if you ask first, you save yourself the trouble when they are not acceoted, that's all.
(By the way: Max said Neutral Milk Hotel will be deleted soon)

Ah, I understand what you meant now.
I still believe they're prog... interesting time changes, complex
intervals, a concept that spans multiple albums, innovative playing,
crazy structures... what's not to love?

NEWS FLASH: Taste is subjective. Claudio's vocals are amazing, and the music is full of depth.
Someone could as easily say Frank Zappa sounds bad, but does that make him not prog?

I'm totally with you on this one, Man Overboard. I recently listened to both their albums again and the more you disect them, the more prog they are. I'm sure the new album will help push them over the edge into the full-on world of prog.
also, coheed being prog or not should be based on the music they play and not whether you like them or not. disliking them is no reason to exclude them.

That is the thing that I do not like about this particular website...a
moderator can come in and delete stuff they don't consider prog,
regardless of what another member might think. I have not tried
looking specifically for Coheed & Cambria here, but if their
presence was deleted due to the "personal taste of someone in charge"
that is a shame, and does a disservice to the members (customers) of
this site that may want info. You may dislike the band, but don't
deny others the pleasure of reading about them.
And yes, I have a C & C disk. I have heard bad reviews on
several prog sites, so I knew I had to check them out for myself.
Is it prog? About as much as Porcupine Tree is, perhaps
moreso. It will continue to sit proudly on my shelf between my
Clearlight and Colosseum discs.
My current top 3:

I guess you've never had the pleasure of hearing their many 8+ minute
songs, with extended solos, and much wonderful music theory applied far
beyond powerchords?
Ignorance is only bliss for the ignorant, it's an annoyance for the rest.
