Musical Box in Nottingham

This show was simply incredible - I could not believe how true they were to the original Lamb Lies Down On Broadway - they even faded songs out!  The slide show was mesmerising, and the costumes were fantastic - especially the "dodgy prog bum grape"!. I have to say though, that it was tinged with melancholy for me as I suddenly began to realise what a great band the early Genesis were, and that their like would never be seen again.  Indeed, the MB's modest retreat at the end - no bows, no thank you's, no ceremony - made it seem all the more distant, like a token memory from a golden age.  At least these guys give the likes of me a chance to witness what it was like in that age, and for that I am truly thankful. 

In summary, not a note of the Lamb missing (except Gabriel's last gasp flute at the end of Lamia - but I think the singer was changing....!), and two additional extended Gabriel ramblings breaking things up - all done with a Gabriel voice and mannerisms.  Quite eerie really. 

Furthermore, two encores:  the Musical Box (startlingly alive and fresh sounding) and Watcher of the Skies (never a favourite of mine, but I guess Suppers Ready was too much to hope for....)

If you're a Genesis fan and you haven't seen this lot yet, go along - you will be astonished.  Indeed, I bet Genesis never played it this well in the past...!!

I was there too - was wondering if anyone would have made a thread about it. They were incredible; I regret not being alive to see the concert being performed by Genesis.

I saw them perform Selling England by the Pound last year, and I'm sure that this - Lamb - was better. (Seeing the Peter Gabriel guy as a flower is something that you have to see though...)

I saw them last night at Newcastle City Hall. Wow, what a great performance. I sat open mouthed in awe for two hours. The whole experience was a joy to behold. The drummer was so like Phil Collins, it was spooky; but all the band were fantastic. When they played 'The Musical Box' my spine was tingling. A superb show.

I think they circulate between Foxtrot, Selling England by the Pound and Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, so I guess it's back to Foxtrot.

Apparently Phil Collins has played with them before, but maybe someone was just so convinced that it was Phil Collins on stage and, well, you know how rumours start...

That's true. I saw Selling England last year and the concert hall was about 2/3 full. This year it was a sell-out crowd. They've been doing these tours since 1993, so I imagine it'll be back to Foxtrot next year.

I saw them in Barcelona. Great show. I just subscribe all the things mentioned here.

Their plans for 2006 are to keep on touring The Lamb, they will be back on most of the places they have been playing + some news.

2007: They will tour Selling England extensively, too.

2008: Is yet to be confirmed, but it sounds they will get rid of Dennis and play Second's Out with the Phil Collins-look as main singer (I am not kidding). Dennis will also play some shows of Gabriel's era albums.

Anyway, they are double number of musicians in The Musical Box project. They are two drummers (the PC-look like and a different one) two guitar players and two keyboard players, so they might divide and perform two different tours simultaneously.
