Just a question... Why isn't Klaus Schulze in PA? The same question goes to Edgar Froese and Akineton Retard...
And above all, is punk

No doubt it will come by stealth. The TANGERINE DREAM lobby was successful (thankfully) not so long ago, as was the KRAFTWERK lobby (thankfully) very recently so, in my opinion, it's a matter of time before EDGAR FROESE and KLAUS SCHULZE are added (thankfully!). There is no good reason not to add them, really.

Personally, I'd also be happy to see VANGELIS, ISAO TOMITA and STOMU YAMASHTA added too, but that's just my opinion.

If you'd like to gauge the opinion of other members of these forums, you could try posting a poll in the Main Discussions forum...

Yeah, I think that the addiction of Vangelis, Yamashta and Tomita would be nice too!

Just a question: If I post a poll in the main discussions forum, won't it be moved to this section?
And above all, is punk

I'm confused.....why are electronic giants like TD, Klaus Schulze etc. even mooted in the progressive rock region of music. I knoe prog rock has a wide base from which to choose, but let's be serious here, Td and schulze are electronic not prog. I love both types of music but even i know the difference.

Well, tangerine62, what these guys were doing in the 1970s was (very) progressive, and a lot of fans of Progressive Rock also bought (and buy) albums by these artists (me, included). There are other sub-genres listed in ProgArchives that, it could be argued, are as distant from Prog Rock bands like YES, GENESIS etc. as are TANGERINE DREAM, KLAUS SCHULZE. EDGAR FROESE et al. And then there is also the argument that, to some people, the likes of TANGERINE DREAM do fall into their definition of Prog Rock. So, all in all, I personally don't mind cutting some slack when it comes to the electronic giants, as you call them.

Welcome to the forums.

I'm sorry but that doesn't wash with me..........true, music in the 70's was pushed to the limits, especially as far as technology was concerned. But, and this is a big but, i doubt very much that electronic music can be construed as progressive, if thats the case, then most music in the seventies could be construed as progressive. Next to Elp TD are my favourite band and they are electronic, the floyd are prog and Hawkwind are the space music kings. Pushing musical barriers is natural but does not mean that they are essentially progressive..maybe growing would be a better phrase.
