i want to read a forum that actually is about prog music, not what bands are prog or not, or threads about yes, elp, and pink floyd, i want a forum that could potentially get me into lesser known bands or raises discussion on our music, not hate discussion of why this or that sucks

sure i could start threads like these, but i am a better reader than poster, plus i have only been listening to prog for two years

so seriously, is there a better prog rock forum out there? because this one is turning into sh*t

Aaron

The ship is sinking.... and the band plays on!

What will you do?  Scramble for the boats or play the violin until the bitter end!

I'm still new to this forum so I can't really comment - but I agree that we could do with more reviews and announcements of new Prog material from new bands.

I think he meant being able to discuss lesser known bands, not just read more reviews about them.

If you think this forum is sh*t - just wait until you go anywhere else...

Besides, we won't miss non-contributative lurkers and readers .

Smile 'Tis often unmitigated sh*te, yes -- but my best advice is to read the reviews (especially those of the Collaborators/prog reviewers -- their reviews are less likely to be rants or infantile -- but not always!) and listen to the sample MP3s to find new prog.Stern Smile

Sorry, but it needed to be said. I think Aaron's right. And besides, just to restate it, I quit. Not because of anything anyone here said, but because I really need to concentrate on my private life now. Best of everything to you all.

I really like this forum, regardless of some of the crappier posts. There's always something good to be found/read/discussed..

Aaron:

Your post is blatantly hypocritical: if you really think this site and its forums are ****, why bother placing your post at all?  Why not simply ignore the site and move on?

Seems like there is something else at work here...

Peace.

I concur. I would like to see discussion on some rare groups. Although I'm certainly not claiming to be a know it all, I feel quite familiar with Yes, Rush, Genesis, Floyd, Gentle Giant, Van Der Graaf, the groups that come up all the time! And trust me, I love those groups... but I'd love to have some expansion upon that. I don't think jumping ship is the correct course of action, rather, that we need to alter our approach. I would love to see the mods jump in a little more often and steer conversation in the right direction. I'm tired of all the bickering... and I don't care if its done by newcomers or people who have thousands and thousands of posts, it needs to stop. What we have to keep in mind is that prospective prog fans read this forum, and we want to leave a good impression on them!

Talk about whatever you want and people are interested enough to want to contribute they will.If you see REAL bickering on this forum you are either younger than your profile suggests or very touchy!Having a right old difference of opinion is what lifts the mood of the forum, the one's who see victims and aggression and bullying should get out in the real world a bit more!
