Steve Hackett. I would give the vote to David Gilmour, as he already was my fave rock guitarist even before I knew what was real prog music, but obviously he isn't a genuine prog guitarist.

I love the work of all these guitarists but has got to be Master Gilmour.

Between David and Robert ... Robert again. Both are capable of a great emotional range, but with Robert's playing acumen it seems like the greater the risk, the greater the reward ... and he rewards pretty much every time. However, when it comes to simplicity, there are times when David could beat Bob at his own game, but overall, my vote goes to Bob.

John is another strong contender in my case, though I can't remember him really delivering on the instrument without showboating.

Gilmour and Latimer are my dual favorites, with Lifeson next.  Voted Latimer for the purposes of this poll.

I voted for Steve Howe, though it could just as easily have been Jan Akkerman. It's a mystery to me how these two amazing musicians (who were in commercially successful bands) are consistently lowly ranked or ignored completely in Greatest Guitarist polls.
