This is going to suprise ya Ed,but I think Maiden should be here. There has been a lot of debate about their progginess here.I think they had proggy moments, but IMO they are one of the fathers of progressive metal,a favorite genre of mine.

Are you guys talking about the IRON MAIDEN heavy metal group formed by Steve Harris in The late 70`s? And let`s get this clear: you think they are progressive and should be added to ProgArch?

You know not every band that plays songs that are longer than 5 mins. is prog. Think of it.
Seriously now: Adding Maiden would be the begining of the end for this site. Soon Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Iced Earth, Metallica and Megadeth would appear on the bands list and the next thing you know every metaller is a progger. Even if they had progressive moments most people thik of them as the biggest HEAVY METAL BAND and lets leave it that way. Again: don`t get me wron I love them, I`ve been on their concert (how about you Ed? Why haven`t you been on Mystic?), I Have their full discography but they simply DON~T BELONG HERE! You see what mess Queen and Vai had caused, I`m afraid to think what would happen if Maidens were added.

Oh and I just noticed that Progtologist agreed with me about removing Rhapsody & Nightwish, some humor changes?

I said I didn't agree with them being included in the archives.I didn't demand their removal.

They just did an U.S. tour - I don't know what you mean by "the only time they tried to play live".

Don't know Angra, so can't comment, but I'm quite comfortable with Rhapsody being here. Certainly not just a "power metal band".

The Progtologist is right though, why spend so much time and energy trying to get bands removed?Confused

You should not demand that a band be removed from the archives just because you can't see how it is progressive. Why don't you write a review for Nightwish - Once? You can explain in all length why you don't think it is prog.

If only people would write as many reviews as they write posts ... (I'm including myself here).

Did you notice how the ratings for those bands are? Have a look at the top 100 prog metal albums:

http://www.progarchives.com/top-prog-albums.asp?style_id=19& amp;album_type=1

The best Nightwish album is at position 91. Rhapsody is at position 51. If someone finds this website through those bands, he'll soon discover that most people here think more highly of other bands and other genres (in terms of progressiveness).

How long do I have to be a member to SUGGEST (not demand!) adding/removing a band? Two and a half month like you? Is that enough?

Bands that you want to be removed have a slim to non chance of actually being removed and it's pointless to make thread about it.

And how long you have been here doesn't mean much to me,it's that you just got here and instead of getting to know some pretty cool people on this forum demand that a band be removed because you don't think they are prog.

And if you don't like power metal being on this site you have problems because there are ALOT of power metal bands in the archives.

If you watched the forum for some time, you should have realized that bands are hardly ever removed from the archives. You have to live with the fact that other people might have other definitions of what is prog. I'm happy when a band that I like is included - if a band which I don't like is included, it really doesn't bother me much.

I`ve got Angra`s "Temple Of The Shadow" album and I think it`s great but not prog! What prog elements can you find in their music. Choir? Give me a break even garage black metal bands use choirs and it doesn`t make them prog. Orchestra? It`s the same - it`s been done a thousand times before better and more interesting. Acoustical parts? Don`t think so. So what makes them prog.Their riffs are power metal standard and the percussion is horrible! Remove them!

Angra is straight power metal as well (minimal proggy tendencies in a few songs).
