Jean-Luc Ponty – New Country. First time I ever heard jazz blended with bluegrass. Others like David Grisman and Bela Fleck & the Flecktones took the idea further with equal success.

I love this album!

Also:

Oneohtrix Point Never - R Plus Seven
I've created an atmosphere where I'm friend first, boss second. Probably entertainer third.

Strawbs – Flying. How many songs can you think of that feature both mellotron and banjo, let alone at the same time?

Along similar lines, Peter Hammill’s first solo, “Fool’s Mate”, has 3 tracks that feature instruments associated with folk mixed with his usual style, courtesy of Lindisfarne’s Rod Clements and Ray Jackson, the latter very likely playing the same mandolin he played on Maggie May.

Ash Ra Tempel's selftitled debut LP certainly comes to mind. Side A must have been one of the fastest and noisiest things in rock music by its 1971 release date, with side B being this contemplative introverted electronic-oriented piece.

Spirit's 12 Dreams (1970) comes to mind...it has a wide variety of styles.

Muse have become very good in recent years of mixing up things on their albums. The last one covers  dubstep , dance and electronica , heavy rock , operatic (Queen pastiche)  , funk etc.

Steve Hackett - Spectral Mornings. From Japanese to classical to ragtime.
Steve Hackett - To Watch the Storms. From classical to world music to rock to blues
Steve Hackett - Beyond the Shrouded Horizon. "    "    "
Jade Warrior - mmm...Hard pick which album. They were the first to do "world music", especially of a Japanese and African variety. Some folk. Some symphonic. Some grooving histrionics. Some retro blues rock. Some stuff that sounded like a ballet.

A number of Santana's albums fall under this classification. Santana III is a time-tested favorite but I like them all up through Milagro.

Queen II — from opera to heavy metal (and even proto-speed/thrash metal) through many stylistic and emotional changes.
This night wounds time.
