Wow! That would pretty much match my list, although some not-TOO-metalic prog metal bands are sneaking onto my radar screen...

yep... it was the infamous 'favorite Petrucci breakfast cereal' poll that finally caused the heads to lose their patience and let slip the Art Rock dogs of war and come down like a ton of bricks on the DT fanclub here. God damn those were good times......

Dream Theater. Gentle Giant (someday I will try Acquiring the taste again). I am not very big ELP-fan too, although I can listen their four first albums.

This whole thread is depressing! Hard to believe anyone can outright dislike some of the choices posted and still consider themselves prog fans, but one can't like everything.
I have to say something to the Dylan-haters, though: dislike his music or find his voice grating all you like, but at least acknowledge his overall cultural impact, which nobody can deny if he's paying attention at all.

The Who. They're masters at writing songs that turn out way better when played by someone else.

Omg I had no idea? Oh wow! Dream Theater, Alan Parsons, Supertramp and Early Queensr˙che!
I love those bands.
Anyway. Glad you don't like Radiohead. I can totally agree. Anyway, I thought you'd love Alan Parsons. Tales of Mystery and Imagination did nothing for you huh? Interesting my friend. Interesting. :) |
That's cool...Dream Theater and Queensryche got families to feed too, so if I'm not going to put bread on their table it's good that you are
As far as Supertramp, I've always liked "The Logical Song" but nothing above and beyond that...
When I was in high school we could bring in albums to art class and the teacher had a record player. I remember spring quarter was a constant swap between the 1st Bad Company album and Tales of Mystery & Imagination - back and forth and back and forth...By June, I was sick of both of them. Oh ya, I brought in Close to the Edge and everybody absolutely hated it except the teacher...guess she was sick of Bad Company too

I definitly agree with this bit. But am slowly coming around to a bit of Dylan. Very slowly. Love Neil Young though. |
- I also love Neil Young, he is Canadian though and there is something inherrently "Canadian" about Seatle so while I dislike most American hard and classic rock bands, I adore Heart. |
Sorry but I HATE Dylan. I love Young. |
Young's Crazy Horse is a good album. Hey hey my my. :)
