I just looked it up in my "Genesis I Know What I Like" book and unfortunately it doesn't mention what Italian bands they toured with, but it says, "By February 1972, Van Der Graaf's Pawn Hearts was No. 1 there, and by April, when Genesis crossed over the Alps for their first seven-date Italian tour, Nursery Cryme was No. 4." It also mentions a second Italian tour in Aug 1972.

A couple of other fun facts from the book...

1) "Watcher of the Skies" was written during the first Italian tour. Banks saying he wrote the lyrics with Rutherford in Naples, "We were sitting out on top of this building, and it was a hot sunny day, and we were just looking out across a vast area of buildings and fields, and there wasn't a soul to be seen. It looked like the whole population had just deserted the planet, and that's what 'Watcher of the Skies' is all about...an alien being coming to the planet and seeing it completely deserted."

2) In March 1972, the top 5 albums on the Italian charts were:

1) Van Der Graaf - Pawn Hearts

2) PFM - Storia di un Minuto

3) ELP - Pictures at an Exhibition

4) Genesis - Nursery Cryme

5) King Crimson - Islands
