Topic: Megadeth vs. Metallica Posted: July 26 2005 at 23:15 |
I voted Megadeth, because they stayed equally good throughout their career, while Metallica started playing sh*t after black album.

I gotta go with Megadeth. Although they've both lost me at this point... Megadeth just took longer

I MUST go for Megadeth. They are absolutely better musicians, in all aspects, composition and technic, and of course, feeling. I do agree with you about the points you mentioned, except for one: Hetfield and Hammet better (even if it's a hair) than Friedman and Mustaine?????!?!!! NO WAY man, just listen to Friedman, he's not even in the same universe as Metallica's boys. So, as I said, I agree with you, but I suggest you listen to Friedman and Mustaine again. (the other posibility is that you switched them accidentaly , but i don't really think so...).

Definitely Megadeth. How in the hell could you say Hetfield and Hammet are better guitar players than Mustaine and Marty Friedman??????NO WAY,they blow H&H out of the water.

Megadeth by a long shot. Atleast they play solos in every album.

unlike metallica where its the same sh f everytime but they are still good
just megadeth kicks em out bigtime

Megadeth is by far better than Metallica. While Kirk was out ther pulling his floyd rose and stepping on his crybaby, Friedman were doing shows with Jason Becker and Cacaphony, and putting out two of the best shread-albums ever. Meanwhile Megadeth were playin with chris Poland, witch is also a great guitarist. ( you should check out his latest album)
As for the duel betwean Hetfield and Mustain, I like them both. I'd say hetfield is a better rythem-guitarist, but as a soloist Mustain leaves both Hetfield and Kirk far behind. Mustain also has a much more agressive voice, wich iMO suits trashmetal better than the country voice of Hetfield.
In the rythem section, I find Lars Ulrick a boring drummer, while mensa is one of my alltime favourites. Big bonus to both for hitting as hard as they do.
The only place I end up with a tie is on bass. I love ellefsons work, and the way he sounds, but both Newstedt, Burtom and that guy with the name I don't dear to try write are great players. I still think Elefson win this to, just for holding on with Mustain for so long without going insane.... He is also credited for more writing than the three Metallica guys together.

Megadeth has a superior number of quality albums, but metallica is metallica

Metallica; love S&M and still play it incredibly loud to annoy my children, neighbours, dogs, etc.

Friedman is a brilliant player.
If you're interested check out thrash/prog metal Tourniquet and their album Where Moth and Rust Destroy. Friedman plays a lot of guitars as a guest on that album, and his solos are absolutely fantastic, well thought all the way and in no way "shredding" .

Hammett is quite dull ... at least I can't recall any great tunes that he wrote. Hetfield is brilliant ... he wrote some of the most amazing riffs.

Metallica has the better records- early stuff- but after the black album (wich wasnt that great imo) megadeth has left them in the dust.
