Classical is the music with the most complex arrangements, while with
jazz and any other genre, a single melody or chord progression can make
an entire song. That doesn't mean I like it better, though, but
post-1860 classical, well, that's the sh*t if you're in the mood.
I think that jazz and classical are related in the way that they both are best experienced live, by the way.
Anyhow, I voted classical, because there's so much jazz that
seems dull to me. And in the case of the jazz standards, any composer
could've written any song. Where's the personal touch? I like modern
jazz better because of that. If I had to choose between prog and
classical, though, it'd be prog, since I like a way larger percentage
of all the prog out there than I like of all the classical. Basically
everything up to the romantic era, well, I wish I at least didn't have
to be exposed to it all the time!
I like some baroque organ works, though. And an occasional ballad of the time.

Classical music. I love classical music over a wide range, from gregorian chants to contemporary composers like Sculthorpe and Takemitsu (granted, he died a few years ago), from piano sonatas to operas.
I like jazz, but mainly the smoother ballads (Holiday, Fitzgerald, Baker, Krall, Kent, Fygi). Up-tempo jazz is not my thing.

I like a witty combination of the two. But if I had to choose one, it would be jazz.

I guess the lyrics are the sauce, and the album art, booklet etc. are the beverages ... or wine, depending on the artistic level.

Personally: classic. Most well-known classic composers have some music which I really like.
There must be some good jazz around, I just didn't discover it yet. I've got trouble finding it.
I learned to play some Oscar Peterson on the piano, which is really nice (from the Canadiana suite), but I listened to the record and he plays it so fast that all the delicate passages seem to get lost . And I love Wave by Antonio Carlos Jobim, and music by the same guy and Elis Regina, but that's more like jazz samba (bossa nova).

Maybe done before but... what do you think?
Personally I go for Tie, I know that Classical was before Jazz, and it owes a lot to Classical, but Jazz took music to another levels that the other didn't.
A friend of mine sometime said that "Jazz is todays Classical" But, how do you see a comparision between contemporary Classic, and Modern Jazz?
