I haven't bought anything yet. I had no idea about this album until a few days ago.
I downloaded it, got crazy with it, and now i'm going to order it from some online store.
But until it will reach here, I would like to take a look at the lyrics, because as I wrote before, I'm preparing a special "theme show" on my radio program. Well, maybe I'll delay it for a while, until I have everything ready.
Thank you for answering my post though :-)

If you bought the hard copy the lyrics should be printed in the booklet.
Maybe you'll find a kind soul on here who's willing to post them (in a private mail mind you. It's against the guidelines to post lyrics in their entirety on the open forum).

Any of you know how I can find the libreto online?
I found the lyrics from some songs, but I would like the whole libreto.
I'm preparing a special tribute to "Alchemy" on my internet radio show soon, and I need the lyrics.
If any of you know something, please inform me!
Thank you in advance :-)

"Alchemy", the rock musical by Clive Nolan was released on March, 4th in Europe and April, 9th in USA. This double release was preceded by the world premiere of "Alchemy" show at the famous Wyspianski Theatre in Katowice, Poland on February 22. The show was recorded for the purposes of a DVD which will be released by Metal Mind Productions in September.
You can now exclusively stream the whole studio album at Progstreaming website. The album will be available for two weeks only at THIS location.

Alchemy’ is a Victorian adventure set in 1842, with a sense of the dark and mysterious. The libretto and the original story are both by Clive Nolan, a British musician, composer and producer who has played a prominent role in the recent development of progressive and symphonic rock.  Next to Clive Nolan himself, both the CD album as well as the DVD concert version of the musical feature the artists well known in the world of progressive rock including Tracy Hitchings (Landmarq, Strangers on a Train), Andy Sears (Twelfth Night), Paul Manzi (Arena), Damian Wilson (Threshold), David Clifford (Red Jasper) as well as the leading lady of Nolan's previous musical 'SHE', Agnieszka Świta. The main cast was expanded by the stars of the 2011 'She - the Musical' Cheltenham theatre production, Victoria Bolley, Chris Lewis and Soheila Clifford. Additionally, on 'Alchemy' album the role of Jessamine was sung by Noel Calcaterra - a Uruguayan singer/actress and the voice of Clive Nolan South American 'Otra Vida' project from 2010. The Caamora Company musicians - Clive Nolan (keyboards), Mark Westwood (guitars), Scott Higham (drums), Claudio Momberg (keyboards) and Kylan Amos (bass) were responsible for the instrumental part of the project both on a CD and DVD.

Clive Nolan comments: “For me, the creation of 'Alchemy' has been a three year journey so far. I have lived with the growing story and the developing music almost on a daily basis. It has become an integral part of my life. Recording the CD, in many ways, helps to provide an official stamp on the project! (…'Alchemy' is for me the biggest musical and artistic challenge I have ever attempted. I really didn't expect a bigger 'mountain' to climb than the 'She' project, but I was wrong. This show is simply larger in structure and depth. By the time we do the Cheltenham shows, it will have been four years of my life!”

The latest update from Clive Nolan:

'Alchemy' Première in Poland

And so the first live stage of the 'Alchemy' project has been completed! The world premiere of 'Alchemy' in a concert version took place in Katowice, Poland, in February 2013. The show was recorded for the DVD, which will hopefully be released in time for the September Cheltenham production of the musical. The concert was a blast for the performers and, by the look of it, also for the audience, who gave us the warmest reception and provided us with a fantastic atmosphere throughout the show. A big thank you to the organisers, Metal Mind Productions and to you all who came and shared this very important moment with us! It's a part of history now!

The reports and reviews of the show can be found on our website: http://www.alchemythemusical.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=13&Itemid=112

Photo galleries can be found on the 'Alchemy' FaceBook page: http://www.facebook.com/alchemybyclivenolan

 'Alchemy' CDs and T-shirts

The day of the show in Poland was also a day of release of the 'Alchemy' CD! A double album with an impressive booklet featuring the lyrics and the stunning artwork by Graeme Bell is available through our official online shop: The Lost Tribe Emporium. In the Emporium, among other new items, you will also find 'Alchemy' T-shirts. You have a choice of four different lines from the 'Alchemy' lyrics: 'Do you believe?', 'Carpe Noctem', 'Be careful what you wish for...' and 'Do you embrace the thought of love at first sight?' This is a limited edition and we have already run out of some sizes! The profit for all the items sold at the Emporium will go to the theatre production of 'Alchemy' in Cheltenham in September 2013.

Visit the Lost Tribe Emporium at: http://shop.alchemythemusical.com/

'Alchemy' in Cheltenham

The next big step for us is Cheltenham. Four theatre shows are planned for 5th - 7th September 2013 and the rehearsals for the event are in full swing now! Our team is busy working on various aspects of the venture: costumes, scenery, choreography, chorus rehearsals, acting and many more. This is a huge challenge and one demanding lots of effort and funds! We are keen to ensure that the final effect will be worth out time and your money!

Tickets for the September shows at the Cheltenham Playhouse Theatre can be purchased online via The Lost Tribe Emporium:  http://shop.alchemythemusical.com/

or at the Playhouse Box Office on +44(0)1242 522852

You can become an official 'Alchemy' sponsor and find your name on our website and in the Cheltenham theatre programme by donating as little as 10 pounds!

Check details at: http://shop.alchemythemusical.com/  Support 'Alchemy'!

'Alchemy' Fundraising Concerts

So far we have done six fundraising concerts! Three of them took place in March 2013 in the Netherlands, the UK and France! Each of the events was a one-off unique show featuring different guests and an exclusive set list. We are happy to announce that with your help we have managed to raise a substantial amount of money, which will enable us to carry on with the Cheltenham theatre shows! We would like to thank all the people involved in the organisation of these little events as well as everyone who helped and supported us in any way! We couldn't do it without you! If all goes well, we may be able to squeeze in a couple more fundraisers over the summer… watch this space!

'Alchemy' Synopsis

A concise synopsis of 'Alchemy' can be found on our website in two languages: English and Polish. More language versions will follow soon! We do encourage you to take a moment and read the story! It will certainly make your 'Alchemy' experience even more fascinating! :-)

As previously announced the brand new project by Clive Nolan - "Alchemy" - will be released on March, 4th in Europe and April, 9th in USA. This release, however, will be preceded by the world premiere of "Alchemy" show at the famous Wyspianski Theatre in Katowice, Poland on February 22, where it will be recorded for the purposes of a DVD to be released by Metal Mind Productions later this year. The album will be available for purchase at the Theatre prior to the official release date.
And today you can listen to another promo track taken from the “Alchemy” album. “Anzeray Speaks” is available to stream at the official Metal Mind Productions’ channel on YouTube in THIS location.

'Alchemy’ is a Victorian adventure set in 1842, with a sense of the dark and mysterious. The libretto and the original story are both by Clive Nolan, a British musician, composer and producer who has played a prominent role in the recent development of progressive and symphonic rock.  Next to Clive Nolan himself, both the CD album as well as the DVD concert version of the musical will feature the artists well known in the world of progressive rock including Tracy Hitchings (Landmarq, Strangers on a Train), Andy Sears (Twelfth Night), Paul Manzi (Arena), Damian Wilson (Threshold), Paul Menel (ex-IQ), David Clifford (Red Jasper) as well as the leading lady of Nolan's previous musical 'SHE', Agnieszka Świta. The main cast will be expanded by the stars of the 2011 'She - the Musical' Cheltenham theatre production, Victoria Bolley, Chris Lewis and Soheila Clifford. Additionally, on 'Alchemy' album the role of Jessamine will be sung by Noel Calcaterra - a Uruguayan singer/actress and the voice of Clive Nolan South American 'Otra Vida' project from 2010. The role of Jessamine in Katowice will be performed by the youngest member of the Caamora Company, Soheila Clifford - a fifteen-year-old artist currently studying on a Full Scholarship at Barbara Speake Stage School in London. The Caamora Company musicians - Clive Nolan (keyboards), Mark Westwood (guitars), Scott Higham (drums), Claudio Momberg (keyboards) and Kylan Amos (bass) will once more take charge of the instrumental part of the project both on a CD and DVD. The core members of the company will be joined by special guests and a chorus.

Clive Nolan: “For me, the creation of 'Alchemy' has been a three year journey so far. I have lived with the growing story and the developing music almost on a daily basis. It has become an integral part of my life. Recording the CD, in many ways, helps to provide an official stamp on the project! It has been a very positive process, and now that the finished recordings are being mixed, I am finally hearing the songs as they were intended... this is a wonderful feeling.”

On the official 'Alchemy' website (www.alchemythemusical.com) you can find all the news and gossips about the project. On the site you can also read the reports from the live events as well as listen to 'Alchemy' teasers and watch video footage introducing the characters from the story of 'Alchemy'. It is interesting to note that these clips have been directed, filmed and produced by Clive Nolan himself! Moreover, the original soundtrack has been composed by Clive for each of them. New clips will be added soon... so, stay tuned!
This special evening at the Theatre will be enriched by two additional concerts. One of the Artists performing that night will be Ray Wilson, who, along with his band, will perform „20 years and more” show prepared especially for this occasion. The other one is a German band RPWL and as they announce, it will be the last complete performance of "Beyond Man and Time" album in Europe.

As previously announced, “Alchemy” album will be released on March, 4th in Europe and April, 9th in USA (via MVD). This release will, however, be preceded by the world premiere of "Alchemy" show at the famous Wyspianski Theatre in Katowice, Poland on February 22, where it will be recorded for the purposes of a DVD to be released by Metal Mind Productions later this year. The double album will be available for purchase at the Theatre prior to the official release date.

Recordings for Clive Nolan's second musical, 'Alchemy' have been completed in December. For the cast of 'Alchemy', consisting of eleven principal singers, seven instrumentalists and the chorus, summer and autumn of 2012 was an extremely busy time. Due to the complexity of the musical as well as a large number of artists involved, the recording process turned out to be more than a multilevel experience, and the one that had to be realised in several stages and different locations.

The major bulk of work was done at the London-based Thin Ice Studios where, under the rigid eye of Clive Nolan himself, numerous vocal and orchestral sessions were completed and a desired sound was achieved. However, some of the recordings - Mark Westwood's guitars and Claudio Momberg's piano parts, were brought to life at Birmingham studio, Nomad 51, and Tauridstudios in Santiago, Chile respectively.

Scott Higham: "Working with Clive Nolan again on his second musical 'Alchemy' has been another fantastic journey. As a drummer it is very interesting to play with lots of twists and turns... just like the story! The recording process is always great fun. Clive and I work together on every track in the studio, making sure every part is perfect for the Musical... Nothing is overlooked! We have worked together this way on many projects over the years, so I have a very good understanding of what he requires for his Musicals. We have a great team on 'Alchemy' and I hope everyone enjoys the show in Poland!"

Apart from the previously announced principal cast, including such giants of progressive rock as Damian Wilson, Tracy Hitchings, Paul Menel and more, 'Alchemy' team was joined by a horn player, Ian Stott and a violinist, Penny Gee. Moreover, as a special treat, the CD album will feature short guest appearances from John Mitchell and a man behind 'Alchemy' artwork, a graphic designer Graeme Bell. Many others joined the chorus or performed some vocal lines adding up to the grandeur of the project's scale.

Paul Menel: “When Lord Nolan offered me the part of Benjamin Greaves, I jumped at the chance. To fulfil a lifelong ambition to play a baddie and finally lay to rest my goody two shoes image as 'the Peter Pan of prog'! With Clive's blessing I rubbed a bit of grit into the character and gargled some gravel into his voice, but he's retained the 'just following orders' innocence that he started with. Me, lackey to Andy Sears' Jagman! I think there may be sparks onstage and that's before the pyrotechnics start!”

'Alchemy' artists are very busy these days getting ready for the international premiere of the musical, scheduled for February 22, which will be filmed for the DVD at Wyspianski Theatre in Katowice. A concert version of the musical will feature mostly unvaried cast. The only alteration will be the part of Jessamine performed on a CD by a Uruguayan stage and TV artist, Noel Calcaterra. In Katowice, this role will be sung by a London musical theatre actress, Soheila Clifford.

You can now listen to the first promo track taken from the “Alchemy” album. “Street Fight” is available to stream at the official Metal Mind Productions’ channel on YouTube in THIS location.

As with the forthcoming release of the "Alchemy" album and the live premiere of the project, an extensive interview with Clive Nolan has been published on his official website.

Nolan: "After I did 'SHE', I was looking for another musical to do. I always intended to do at least two of these, because you learn a lot the first time and then you can use these lessons the second time. I wanted to do another one that was Victorian, because I love that era. I read a lot of books and each time I thought that something would be a great story, I checked online and there would be 'Jack the Ripper - the Musical', 'Jeckyll and Hyde - the Musical' and it was very hard to find a story that hadn't been done by somebody else. So, I came to the conclusion that what I really needed to do was perhaps to create my own story. I remember I was in a Russian restaurant in Lithuania when I had the original idea for this story. Then I decided I can write a musical. This was actually a mistake because I started to imagine it too much on stage. In the end, I realised that what I needed was something a little bit like a book for 'SHE', a story I could look at and think how I am going to do that as a musical. And it took a lot of time because I was busy with other things, but I gradually created this story. I would describe it as a short story or a very short novel."

You can read full story HERE.

Well, that's very interesting.
Nice to see some of those well known names back again too.
Glad to see that Clive's still a project man, bringing some life and excitement in the (neo) prog scene.
Very good.

The final of the scheduled 'Alchemy' stages will take place in Cheltenham Playhouse Theatre in September 2013, where full theatrical performances will be performed. It is for this production that a series of fundraising musical events have been planned. Those small intimate shows, where Clive Nolan and friends entertain the audiences with the selection of songs from the vast repertoire of the composer, keep receiving enthusiastic reactions from the participants. There are four of the fundraising events planned for autumn 2012 and Spring 2013. The shows will take place in Bristol, UK, Tilburg, NL, Villamblain, FR and Gloucester, UK. Learn more at 'Alchemy' website!

Clive Nolan: 'Alchemy' is for me the biggest musical and artistic challenge I have ever attempted. I really didn't expect a bigger 'mountain' to climb than the 'She' project, but I was wrong. This show is simply larger in structure and depth. By the time we do the Cheltenham shows, it will have been four years of my life!

'Alchemy' Facebook Page

Clive Nolan: Due to unexpected problems with my websites which influence, among others, Clive Nolan and 'Alchemy' sites, we decided to start the official 'Alchemy' facebook page, where all the news and events will be povided and comented. 'Alchemy' is the project that currently occupies most of my time and certainly my whole mind... For me it is the biggest musical and artistic challenge I have ever attempted. I really did not expect a bigger 'mountain' to climb than the 'She' project, but I was wrong. 'Alchemy' is simply larger in structure and depth. Therefore, your support and each tiny sign of your involvement gives the whole team strength to committ and work even harder. So, I hope you will find time to 'like' Alchemy' facebook page and stay in touch with us! In the meantime, the websites are being taken care of and hopefully will soon be restored back to normal!

'Alchemy' Fundraising Show in Bristol

We have the pleasure to invite you to 'Alchemy fundraising show to take place on October 12, 2012 in Bristol. The main aim is to raise funds for the Cheltenham production of 'Alchemy' in September 2013. This show has been designed in quite a different manner than any of our previous fundraising events. We are offering you an evening of musical extravaganza featuring some of the key members of the Caamora Company as well as guest performances and many other attractions.

From the organiser of the show:

"The show will feature original music by Clive Nolan - played by the man himself, West End classics, and so much more. With the incredible vocal talents of Victoria Bolley, Becky Carter, Dave Clifford - leading male in 'SHE' and romantic lead in 'Alchemy', and Chris Lewis.

Guest appearances include Agnieszka Swita - leading lady in both 'SHE' and 'Alchemy', Soheila Clifford, Farideh Clifford and our special attraction - Noel Calcaterra - one of Uruguay's leading ladies in musical theatre and the voice of Clive Nolan's South American project 'Otra Vida'. Noel will also feature on 'Alchemy' album. Bistol show will be the only oppotunity to see her performing live in the UK this year."

The show will take place on October 12, 2012 at the United Reformed Church Hall, Tabernacle Road, Hanham, Bristol, BS15 8DU. Cost - only £5 and all in a good cause! For tickets and details contact Victoria Bolley at [email protected] or call: 07552 995353.

Hope to see you there!!

Best wishes,

           Clive Nolan

More news from Clive:

The Clive Nolan Newsletter 1/08/2012

'Alchemy'

The official 'Alchemy' website has been in operation for quite a while now, so those of you who have not had a chance to visit it yet, check www.alchemythemusical.com and find out about the story and people involved, get informed about the news and project's progression, check the scheduled events, read the diary of the 'Alchemy' protagonist, Professor Samuel King, listen to the musical extracts, get to know the characters, buy tickets, see how to get involved, and more!

A few details you should know about 'Alchemy'...

'Alchemy' is a multidimensional musical project to be developed in numerous stages and forms. The libretto and the original story are both by Clive Nolan. It is a Victorian adventure set in 1842, with a sense of the dark and mysterious.

The 'Alchemy' album will be recorded at the end of this year with the concert version being filmed in Katowice, Poland for DVD in February 2013. The CD and DVD (and collectors Box Set) will be available by the middle of 2013. More details about 'Alchemy in Concert' in Poland can be found here:

http://www.alchemythemusical.com/index.php/shows-and-tickets/alchemy-in-concert

We hope to see many of you there. DVD concerts at the Wyspianski Theatre are always special events! Tickets will be on sale soon.

Fully theatrical 'Alchemy' performances will be offered to the ‘musical enthusiasts’ over three days at the Playhouse Theatre in Cheltenham in September 2013. Tickets are on sale NOW both online and at the theatre. Find out more and buy tickets here: http://www.alchemythemusical.com/index.php/shows-and-tickets/cheltenham-shows

Additionally, the story of 'Alchemy' may gain another life. Clive is working with a famous comic book and graphic novel artist (known from his numerous works for DC and Marvel Comics), Mark Buckingham, to develop imagery for the show, as well as a possible graphic novel version of the story, as part of the 'Alchemy' project.

A number of principal characters in ‘Alchemy’ as well as other cast members have been confirmed. The musical will see the return of many actors known from the Caamora Theatre Company’s previous productions of 'She - the Musical': Clive Nolan and Agnieszka Swita, as well as key participants from the 'She' Cheltenham cast: David Clifford, Victoria Bolley, Chris Lewis and Becky Carter.

The Company will be aided by new members who are well known in the ‘progressive rock’ world: Tracy Hitchings (Strangers on a Train, Landmarq), Andy Sears (Twelfth Night), Paul Manzi (Arena, Oliver Wakeman Band) and Damian Wilson (Threshold, Headspace). The album version of 'Alchemy' will feature a guest performance from Uruguayan singer, Noel Calcaterra, the vocalist for Nolan's South American 'Otra Vida' album.

Musicians Clive Nolan (keyboards and orchestrations), Mark Westwood (guitars), Scott Higham (drums), Claudio Momberg (additional keyboards) and Kylan Amos (bass) will once more take charge of the instrumental part of the project. More names will be confirmed soon.

Clive: “For me this has been the biggest writing project since ‘She’. Four years in the making, by the time of release in mid 2013. I know these characters so well now… they are part of my everyday life. The way they have developed alongside the musical ideas has been a fascinating and emotional experience. If ever I wanted to write a sequel it would be for ‘Alchemy’!”

But there's more before 'Alchemy' shows....

Four fundraising shows have been scheduled with the thought of raising funds for the production of theatrical version of 'Alchemy' in Cheltenham in 2013. Each of the fundraisers will be a unique intimate event featuring Clive Nolan (keyboard), Agnieszka Swita (vocal), Mark Westwood (guitars) and other artists of the Caamora Theatre Company as well as special guests known from the world of progressive rock and beyond. The aim is to raise the sum of money that would enable us to make Cheltenham shows as satisfying as 'She' earlier this year. You can help by participating in any of the fundraisers! The fundraising shows schedule:

31st August 2012 Wokingham, UK (a house concert)

2nd September 2012 Zoetermeer, NL (De Boerderij Cafe)

12th October 2012 Bristol, UK (United Reformed Church Hall)

22nd March 2013 Gloucester, UK (The Kings Theatre)

‘She’ at Leamington cancelled!

It is with much regret that we must announce the cancellation of ‘She’ at Leamington Spa, on December 1st.

Clive: ‘Several things have conspired against us on this project and I felt I had no choice but to cancel the show. It’s a shame, but I have every hope that we will find a way to perform ‘She’ again.’

Arena

In July Arena had a pleasure to play at the Loreley Amphitheatre at the legendary Night of The Prog Festival. The band delivered a smooth and powerful performance to the applause of the multinational audience. Pendragon

The date for the long awaited DVD/BluRay 'Out of Order Comes Chaos' has been moved to September 2012. After months of work on the recordings the band is now happy with the result so, let us hope you will find the release as enjoyable as the real life performance in 2011. Once again, we apologise for the delay and we appreciate your patience and neverending support.
