King Crimson, followed by Gentle Giant. As a Physics teacher, the mis-spelling of VdGG is a pity!

Tangerine Dream - perfect for them
Van der Graaf Generator - awesome name but its logical to expect music similar to Kraftwerk
King Crimson - works best with their earliest albums but a great and memorable name
Pink Floyd - Pretty mediocre - you just get used to it I guess
Gentle Giant - cutesy, cuddly lame.

Nah, I always thought Crispy Ambulance was the best name.

Always loved also Pink Floyd´s name. You can think a Floyd named pink guy, also it´s from those two great blues musicians.

Tangerine Dream for me, and I like that it is an anagram of Marinated Green. Gentle Giant reminds me too much of giant genitals (I know the story of Gargantua and Pantagruel before someone tries to put me straight). Pink Floyd reminds me of a pink haemorrhoid, even if it's a bit of a stretch. King Crimson is just a little too devilish for me (though I'm not religious and don't really care), and Van der Graaf Generator reads like a typo.

Voted KC. Tangerine Dream and VDGG are good names too.
Two random guys agreed to shake hands. Just Because. They felt like it, you know. It was an agreement of sorts...a random agreement.

Pink Floyd and Tangerine Dream are great band names. But King Crimson represents Fripp's vision of his band perfectly.
I really like Genesis and Jethro Tull as well.

Of those listed, it has to be Van der Graaf Generator. Anything named after physics equipment sounds cool in my book!

The best band name was and is Frumious Bandersnatch, a psychedelic group out of San Fran in late 60s.
