But, it's all good and you can't please all of the people all of the time, as you well know from your own musical creations.   It's just important to please yourself.  I can now look back on various albums and realize the songs that irritate me, the ones I wished I'd been able to leave off!  Egads, there's a song on Number Seven that I just CANNOT STAND (more because of the quality of the recording, not the song itself...)

Actually, the only thing I know of my maternal grandpa was that he was an a****le.  LOL

Phideaux, take it easy tonight and enjoy yourself.  You done good.  I probably won't review your album for months, but that's just me.  And by the way, I'm fixing many things on Still the Waters and putting it on Bandcamp- the benefit of experience and all that.  Then I'll put the new album on there.

hahaha, well remember Granny was once a hot little number who snared Grandpa!  She had to have had some good taste!

Having made several albums now it's actually interesting to see what people honestly think.  When I made the first, I was so caught up in it having to be perfect that I worried about the least little thing someone might say.  Now, I admit my own gripes with certain songs/sonics/artwork/etc.

Nothing I've ever heard of you has been genuinely disappointing (relatively speaking, I mean 313 is good, but Doomsday Afternoon tops it by a long shot), and there have been other things from varying artists that I didn't like after even after several listens but do now (in fact, your Number Seven is probably going to go from a 3 star to a 4 star just because it has really grown on me over the course of like a year).  That's why I take forever in reviewing most anything.

All I was saying was this: I'll probably grow to like the third track.  And if I don't, so what?  I'd still recommend the album because of the first two.

Bottom line: You make excellent music.

As for soaps, well...I'd have to ask my grandma about that one! Wink

probably a month by the time it gets to the proper channels.  I hope to get the CDs in 2.5 weeks and vinyl in month......

Also, Epi, I am sorry if I gave you the impression that I was trying to defend the piece.  I was really just trying to explain where I was coming from with the whole thing and acknowledging that you are not alone in your summation of the track.   I will be curious if it will unlock when you've heard it a few more times.   I would expect you to say what you think about it.

(oh, and Truth -- I quite enjoy Days as well.  In fact the only soap I have not worked on is Bold & Beautiful...)

No need to explain or defend anything man- it was one listen, and first listens aren't worth much at all.  Lately I have been finding myself saying, "I did not like x at first (and this with regard to whole albums!), but now- WOW."

The first track caught my interest (and held it for 20 minutes!) immediately.  The second is great.  All of it will require more listening to digest, especially the third track (and you obviously know that) and if I still don't like it then, I'll say so.

As usual, you did a great job.  I know you're proud- as well you should be.

PS- I believe I like the second part of Thick as a Brick somewhat more than I do the first.  Wink

Seriously, upon first hearing, the first track was absolutely incredible, the second was really good, but I wasn't crazy about the third.  The keyboard work in the first track was hot, yo- HOT!

Where do you think I get my information.  We've done vast experiments on mind control!  I hope in your review you will at least say it was 1½ but you had to round down for some reason or other.  It will be too embarassing otherwise!  [meanwhile, I will have to consult my notes to see how to strengthen the narcotizing brain tones]
