New Suggestion Team have made a strict decision not to alert any evaluation team as for Air in conclusion.

I love their first album, but except for Talkie Walkie, which I like, I haven't heard anything of them.
From the albums that I heard they sound like they are a more like a song band, albeit a song band heavily drenched and influenced by prog.

This. I have most of their albums and spin them regularly. Great band but not prog electronic nor xover as I hear it. |

Would love to see them on the Archives, I think they'd fit in nicely with bands like the Yellow Magic Orchestra, etc, ie a cool mix of synth-pop, experimental, prog-electronic, etc.
I especially adore the icy synths and chilly atmosphere of `Pocket Symphony', I never tire of that beautiful album ![]() ![]() Cool cover too ![]() |

AIR's a great band and worthy of inclusion - but well behind many other progressive electronic bands that also won't get a look in. But I'm worried that if they sneak in through the side door - like BATTLES, SQUAREPUSHER, BJORK etc - we'll end up with a de facto prog electronic section scattered through PA but missing the essential bands. Not an argument I'm ever going to win, but I'm with you! |

Most definitely!!! Granted not all their albums may be applicable to electronic/crossover prog, some of their albums like '10000 Htz: Legend' almost remind me of Camel.
TOTAL SUPPORT! |

I wouldn't support them.

I'm AIR's biggest fan on PA but I don't think we can have them. Their only album that sounds like prog is the Virgin Suicides OST, but I don't think it's enough.

I agree. I think they should also be considered for Crossover, Space Rock, and maybe Prog-Related as well as I was going to include those categories in the title of the thread though it would not fit. |

Air won't get in progressive electronic - that's clear as clear skies. However, I wouldn't hesitate to include them in full-blown prog sub, most likely Crossover prog or Space rock - their music is deep, spacey, both vintage and so incredibly innovative, it's much more than it meets the eye on a first sight.
Here's their entry from Gibraltar Encyclopaedia of Progressive Rock. But I'm afraid I'm in minority with such an opinion. |

I wonder if those on here think they fit on this site, I think they could fit on this site in a few categories as they do have admitted influences of Tangerine Dream, Pink Floyd, and Vangelis among others(though many are French film composers).
