Hi,
Should be Hammill's, but I am not sure that a Genesis fan would have enjoyed or been able to sit through that album very well, as it is extremely powerful, and very strong and it doesn't stop at the door. By comparison, in my book, and I think that Voyage of the Acolyte is Hacket's best album of all of his solo albums, this is not really a good comparison at all ... one might do better with a choice of Peter's solo albums instead.
Hammill's, was the one album that taught me more about individuality in music (along with Roy Harper) than anything else, or anyone else in music ... and from then on, all that radio and commercial stuff, jsut didn't get me at all, including Pink Floyd. I liked PF and such, but in the end, I would never compare PF to Hammill, and think that PH and VdGG are far more important than the success that became known as PF and then the public abuse and over commercialization of their work and ensuing corruption.
Wakeman's albums, to my ear, are actually very poor excuses for solo albums and music, and I never felt that he was that good a creative person without the inspiration that he got from YES for a couple of years. In fact, I eventually sold my RW albums so I could get the new Klaus Schulze or Tangerine Dream ... which were way better and more far out and out there, and rarely had the pretentious ideas and feelings that RW's albums were giving us ...

Before I opened this thread I was almost certain that Silent Corner would be in it, and as the VdGG fanboy I am, my vote has to go for it.

They're all great, but I think that Hamill's is the true masterpiece.

Have to hear Hammill's album yet, so no vote. Voyage of the Acloyte is great, Wakeman's album is a no-op. I have heard it once and that was more than enough,
