Saucerful. It's got "Let There be more light", "Remember a Day" and "Set the Controls", vs "Astronomy Domine", which are all my favourite songs from each album. Ofcourse there are some other songs I like in both albums, but these are the better ones for me.

When I'm in a 60s mood, I play Piper no doubt, great 60s psychedelic album, very innovative as well.
But 'A Saucerful of Secrets' is an album I can get enjoyment without being in a 60s mood, the Wright compositions already makes it up for me.

The more I hear Saucerful of Secrets the more I am impressed by how good it is (forty years after I first heard it). The title track is my favourite Floyd track. Given the context of its time the title track is possibly the most progressive track ever made (the Doors "The End" and the Beatles "Day in the Life" are others that come to mind).
Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun is an iconic track that still sends tingles up my spine. Is there a better title for a track?
Let there be More Light has one of the all time great intros. It is the reason why volume controls have an 11.
Corporal Clegg is a Waters classic which has never received the attention it deserves,
Jugband Blues is Barrett's farewell to Floyd with stunningly prescient lyrics.
Remember a Day is one of Wright's most beautiful efforts.
All of this adds up to the most under-rated album ever produced.

Both are pretty good, but Piper was the more consistent album. Saucerful was a bit more erratic, containing the average "See Saw" (to be fair, it was better than "It Would Be So Nice"), and two great tunes ("Corporal Clegg" and "Jugband Blues") that weren't integrated as well as the pieces on Piper that had a similar vibe.

I had noticed that. Who are these faceless lurkers? I'm assuming at least two of them are the folks who voted for Other Voices and Full Circle on my Favorite Doors Album poll... |

I like the one that shows someone had been reading The Wind in the Willows.
This is another of those odd polls where nearly everyone writing something in these little boxes goes for one thing and a silent majority goes for something else entirely (Nixon, I curse thee once more!).

Piper is a masterpiece, a world shifting experience, a perfect collection of "down the rabbit hole" vignettes that never ceases to amaze me. Thank God they got these songs on tape before Syd exited.
Saucerful has some nice moments too, but is a pimple on Piper's ass, to put it nicely |

Unless he is comparing these two albums with the whole discography though and is asking, "which of these two albums are the best out of the whole discography" You ARE right of course.

No doubt, I prefer Piper! Syd was a demigod who they didn't keep for a long time ...
