Topic: Battle of the Prog Bands Rematch: Genesis vs. Yes Posted: October 02 2010 at 20:46 |
Okay - I've made an executive decision and locked this thread - votes are now closed - the result is a draw.
How Undercover Boy resolves this is his choice - I suggest he PMs me if he has a problem with this.
thanx

LOL, this is like watching the quarter final of the world cup, but knowing you're actually watching the final...just put them both through and pit them both against the next contender, then if they get the same number of votes again promote them both to the next round etc... finally one will win since KC and PF will take away a lot of votes...This poll just shows that both are hugely loved (I love both btw) which is very understandable...

My opinion is that PFM will stay with 1 or maybe 0 votes against the two, so would make no difference.
My idea is: }
- Move PFM with the winner between Caravan vs Mahavishnu (That would be fair.
- Place Yes, King Crimson and Genesis in the same group, then the votes will surely be divided and we will avoid a new problem with Genesis or Yes vs king Crimson dividing the votes of the three in one super round.

I don't think it is fair or appropriate ( ) to change the brackets at this stage in the tournament.
Personnaly I don't think the brackets were fair at all, but that's how UB set them up and that's how they should stay.

That's a great idea, but then you get into a situation where this whole tournament just boils down to "Best band-Yes, Genesis or King Crimson?" That's something I'd like to avoid for the sake of having an interesting tourney.

Or we could just knock Yes and Genesis out of the Battle of the Bands and continue on without them. I'm sure no one would mind.

Put them both through against PFM - whoever scores the most votes of all three wins. |
That's a good idea.

This is a bit like one of those World Cup games where the final just pales compared to the performance of two lesser and under realised sides. Bearing in mind that the lesser and under realised sides here are Genesis and Yes (couple of boybands they are of course ) this probably means this is the real final. Barring the PF vs KC confrontation of course. If someone gets 3 does it get closed off immediately? Sort of Golden Goal?
