Great cartoon, I saw it, as Atavachron mentioned is fictional, but has a resemblance of a Roger Dean cover, he also mention the name Yes few times and Asia aswell

That's pretty good. The kid is called Roger Dean but he's not ready for The Crimson King yet!

I really must check out Venture Bros at some point. I've liked pretty much every other Adult Swim show I've encountered...

Anyway, out of sheer curiosity I tracked down the scene in question. You can find a clip of it here:  http://theflickcast.com/2009/10/29/new-clip-from-this-weeks-venture-bros/

I think I can say with confidence that both the music and artwork are pastiches of early 70's Yes. Ekow, if you haven't already, check out the albums "Fragile" and "Close to the Edge" and you'll see just how wonderfully pitch-perfect the parody is.

The colours, logo and red dragon/elephant are similar to Roger Dean covers for Osibisa.

For some reason the pictures are showing in preview and when I first post, then they disappear. Just Google Roger Dean Osibisa and you'll see what I mean.

Ah, I guess I just assumed it was real.  Now that you mention it, it must be something J.G. Thirlwell composed for the scene; he does all the original music for the show.  I have the OST but it's not on there. Thanks for the replies!

the cover is based on Roger Dean's work, but I think it's fictional--  when I heard the music on the show I wondered who it was, but based on the obvious Yes-isms it sounds like a spoof track by unknown musicians, but I don't know for sure.. whoever it was did a good job though

That one appears to be an Asia album too, by the logo in the upper right corner of the cover, but is it a fictional one? I don't know Asia at all.

Hey guys, first post here.  If you watch the Venture Bros and like progressive rock, this will likely have been one of your favorite scenes from the show.  It's where Doctor Venture introduces his son, Dean, to progressive rock.  I'm no expert on the genre but have been getting really into it, so does anyone know what album this is, based on the cover art?

Also, here's a clip of the scene, it's pretty awesome: http://www.viddler.com/explore/theflickcast/videos/156/

If anyone can identify any of the other albums in Rusty's crate that would be awesome.  I already recognize the King Crimson album, and he mentions the group Asia as well.
