Snow is in my top 5 albums ever, and is a very special album to me. I would love to see them play it live, but somehow I just don't see it happening, for similar reasons as rod65 mentioned. Also, keep in mind that Neal himself doesn't even play that album live. I think if Neal reuinited with the band it may be a possibility, but I don't think either camp will play it alone.

Unfortunately, you're right, Biff.

My personal correspondences have just confirmed that SB will not be touring for anything anytime soon. NDV has a two year commitment to Cirque de Soleil, and the only place they can tour and not lose money is Europe, so unfortunately this idea is dead on arrival...

Okay, but all of those bands are MUCH bigger than Spock's Beard has ever been.  If they got back together to do all of Snow, they might get 500 people or so at a show, at a few select cities in the States.  Meanwhile, Rush is still drawing 10-15K at cities all over the country.  It is simply not a good comparison.  Sure, Neal coming back to do all of their double CD concept album might draw a few more people, but what does that mean...525 will show up instead of 500?

Don't get me wrong, I am a SB fan, but they are a niche band, and I just don't think this be worthwhile enough from a monetary standpoint for them to do it.

Also, for the record, Rush is not doing a MP tour; they are doing a Time Machine tour where they will be playing all of Moving Pictures.  A small difference, perhaps, but one, nonetheless.  And Rush will still be playing new material, as they always do, so this is not strictly an "old band touring on an old record to get fans back in the seats" tour.  Rush still draws well, regardless of whether or not they play all of an old album or not.

I'd be interested in a Snow show, but even being one of their best albums, I don't see it drawing a large enough crowd in the Michigan area.

That's it? Very surprised more people here are not interested in this possibility, I thought that Snow was a big favorite around here, or maybe my posting of the thread was just poorly timed...

Good point. I hadn't thought of it that way.

The problem is, Spock's Beard is unlikely to tour the U.S. for SBX because it is too expensive for the number of people who would attend. The idea with this is to create a bigger buzz about Spock's Beard touring to increase attendance so that it will be possible to see them period, not to deny the brilliance of the new CD or this lineup of the band.

Many classic rock acts are touring old albums to increase attendance - Rush is doing a "Moving Pictures" tour this year, Kiss just did a "Kiss Alive" retrospective tour, Iron Maiden, Styx, Deep Purple have all hit the road recently with set lists featuring select classic albums in their entirety. It's a proven way to increase attendance.

Much as I would love to see Snow toured, I doubt that the band would be crazy about the idea. They have worked very hard to establish their post-Neal Morse identity, and Snow is their Neal-era masterpiece. such a tour might easily represent a backslide from an artist's point of view.

I've been pleasantly surprised by the enthusiasm for this idea on this Facebook group:

How cool would that be?
