You're right!  They should've ignored the entire thing, 'cause now JJ and the scary dude (him who must not be named here) got all the attention they wanted!

I think there was a lot of fuss over nothing really. Seeing a bare breast is not exactly life threatening to anyone is it? Whether it was staged or not, It cetainly got JJ the exposure(pun intended) she wanted. As they say, all publicity is good publicity.(do they say that?) I think there was a totally unnecessary reaction to it though. Maybe you guys in the US take things too seriously. Here in the UK, if that would have happened, It would have made the front pages of the newspapers and the Girl involved would probably become a national hero. I must ask this though as I dont know the answer. Do girls in the US go topless on the beaches? Here and throughout most of Europe it is fairly standard practice now, maybe that is why we dont get in a tizz over these kind of things.

"I like nipples. I think they look nice, and if you take off the nipple, which is the characterizing, determining factor, what you've got is a blob of fat there. I think that when you're a baby, one of the first things you get interested in is that nozzle there. You get to have it right up in your face. And then you grow up to live in the state of Maryland (they were trying to ban albumcovers which had nipples on it, there) where they won't let you see that little brown nozzle anymore." - Frank Zappa

Of course it was planned. Just to get attention. Very childish.

But the fuss about a nipple on tv is so stupid, in my opinion. I heard there's lots of violence on tv in America, more than over here, so who cares about one part of one breast then?  That's ridiculous! Ban the violence first. If I had children, I wouldn't want them to see that!

I saw it.

It didn't bother me personally other than the venality and tastelessness.

It was obvious to me from the get-go that it was intentional and the initial denials by all involved simply increased my disdain and contempt for those involved.

What did bother me was the violation of the covenant with the viewers that certain things won't be shown on TV at certain times.  Had I been a parent with say, six and eight year old children sitting with me watching the football game, I would have been furious that Viacom/CBS/MTV exposed my children to that without any warning.

And don't tell me that MTV didn't know it was coming.  I won't buy it for a second.

I did and, if yer talkin' about hte JJ thing, it was very brief and, in my opinion, totally scripted and distasteful.  I say that because us old folks had our kids there and it's not the place.

When I went to see Zappa w/ Flo and Eddie, I was EXPECTING outrageous behaviour.

Sorry......................
