Forgive my counterpart here. You will soon learn that PA is a bit more hostile to PT than most other forums I am a member of. Me, PT are of of my favourite bands ever.
Wilson's lyrics on FOABP (the song) do indeed sound a bit more immature than some of his others on previous albums. But it probably was indeed meant to be that way. I think the song is written from the point of view of one of these 'bored teens'. The concept of the album is loosely based on Bret Easton Ellis' book Lunar Park. May have to read that sometime.
What's wrong with Way Out Of Here, Any Colour You Like? I quite like that song. |
Nothing is wrong with it, I just don't like it.
By the way, check my signature, that is 1300 PT plays in about 8 months. Hostile towards PT?

Oops. Sorry, man! I didn't see that PT was right at the top of your playlist! Sorry. I just get defensive about PT sometimes, because of some of the backlash I've been seeing against them on PA lately.

Hey guys.
yea, I meant about the individual song becaus eI was doing it for a class thing and needed real peoples interpretations and feelings and such towards the video.
But i figure its going to be difficult, so..........
do you know any songs with good video clips to challange teenagers and their way of life.
Please dont think you're doing my assignment, i just require people's own opinions.
Thankyou!!

I assume you mean the track, not the entire album.
I like the idea, but the execution leaves me cold. Lyrically, Wilson was always quite philosophical and descriptive, but FoABP's lyrics are quite straight forward and rather childish. I know that he meant that to be the way, but I can't get into it. Probably the second weakest track on the album behind the terrible Way Out of Here.
As for the video, I like it, but again I don't enjoy the song. I also think that it is pretty straight forward, but as with anything slightly 'artistic', you can interpret it in many ways. I've never really cared for over analysing music, especially that album.

I was wondering if anyone would share their interpretation and opinion of Porcupine Tree's Fear Of A Blank Planet, and if possible, specifically on the videoclip accompanying it.
I know its pretty straight forward, but just wondering if there were any other interpretations or comparrisons. :D
