well i like the big ones like VDGG KC Genesis GG ELP PF i am also very fond of the french scene with bands like Shylock, Atoll, Arachnoid and Pulsar
jazz/fusion bands like Mahavishnu Orchestra,Jean Luc Ponty, Al Di Meola and RTF
my listening goes mainly to the Eclectic symphonic, krautrock Jazz/fusion Canterbury and electronic prog  though i'm not generalisating anything.
i am very picky with bands, they have to have something special going on Cool

Clappies for the bolded selections in specific, they're some wonderful sub-genres. ClapClapClap

Welcome to the site.  What are some specific bands you're interested in?

Welcome to PA, I hope you'll have a great time here. Smile

And to get a bit political here, I think the whole conflict with Iceland is very hypocritical. The Dutch government is wanting Iceland to pay huge amounts of money back, but because of the common people of Iceland (like you said) will lose pretty big amounts of money because of that I think it's just unfair to do it. I'm sure if the whole thing was against the Netherlands, the Dutch government would be not wanting to pay money back either.

I didn't see this threat until now.
but anyway i come from Iceland and i have been a prog fan for about 5 years ( the best thing that happened to me so far ). i like my prog colorful, atmospheric, dark, well orchestrated so it breaths naturally and on and on.
there is no real prog scene in iceland, we have some older prog bands but no one really cares about them, they are just dinosaur bands in the eyes of most of people.
i have done my best to inform people of this genre with mixed results though i don't necesseraly just pick out random people out on the streets and start talking about prog to them. i would be no better than a mormon then. LOL
i know that alot of people are very angry at Iceland because of the economical crisis and all of that , maybe there's somebody in here who lost all of their savings because of us (well actually just a couple of greedy b*****ds) but i am not here to talk about that i just think people intend to forget that we the common people in Iceland are not responsible for this.

and for my closure im really excited to be a member of PA and looking forward how that will progress
