it's expensive indeed... well, yes, is the same, 16 track sequencer... somebody told me in a music store that Yamaha didn't work with 16 track but 8, he lies to me... that helps me to choose korg, but I'm not that in the recording... too much "automatic" fillers and I start to get mad when the system build up an entire song from my little sequence I started... but I have to do my homework and learn to use it... well, that's OK, think twice before buying it...

Hi, thanks for your post Smile

The Yamaha has a 16 track sequencer which makes on-board recording very easy. I guess the Korg is similar but, yeah, the frustrating part is transfering the data. I haven't decided on the Boss yet... cost is about $600 so I want to be sure.

Hi! Thanks for the info. The aw16g looks like a nice bit of kit, although a good bit more expensive than the Boss. I've had a quick look at reviews of the aw16g (very positive), and I also checked out the motifator site. Plenty of stuff there to keep me busy this weekend... guess the laminate flooring will have to keep. One other possible option would be the mLAN16E board which allows the Motif to communicate directly with a computer. looks like i'll need to do a good bit more research, but you've definitely pointed me in the right direction. Cheers! Thumbs Up

Yo, I have a Motif 6 and AW16G digital recorder.  Assuming that the Boss has the standard line ins/line outs, you should have no problem.  I'm not comfortable working with computer recording software so I do it the old school way:  record a drum track, add a bass track on another channel.  Once that's right, add whatever I want.  I don't know anything about the Boss; however I can't imagine it would not be compatible with any Yamaha synth.  Before I had the AW16G I had an ancient Tascam 4-track cassette recorder, which was absolutely compatible with the Motif.

You also might want to check out the forums on http://www.motifator.com.  There's people there who know a helluva lot more about the Motif and recording it than I do.
Can you tell me where we're headin'?
Lincoln County Road or Armageddon.

I use a Yamaha Motif XS6 workstation for writing songs. However, i'm a bit technically challenged and am more used to working with a piano. The problem I have is transfering my completed songs from the Motif. Cubase is bundled with the Motif and I have installed it on my computer... but I can't be bothered with all that faffing about between workstation and computer. I was thinking of getting a Boss BR-900CD. Can anyone out there tell me if it's possible to record direct from a Motif  XS6 onto the Boss using a simple line out? Thank you all advice greatly appreciated. Smile
