Zargus, I suggest you try some of the albums mentioned in this thread.
They show the "serious" side of Zappa much more. I too, don't care so
much for his later 'novelty' songs. They're just disappointing.
And Joren...

While Zappa is surely *progressive*, there isn't too much that sounds like *classic* prog, if that's what you are looking for. The previously reccomended "Make A Jazz Noise Here" is excellent (albeit largely jazz flavored as well). If you enjoy 20th century classical, be sure to check out "The Yellow Shark". The "You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore" series (YCDTOSA) features some amazing stuff that covers many different eras and styles of Zappa's music.

I´m looking for Fusion, Jazz Rock... I don´t think Zappa have any "classic prog" music, but that kind of fusion (Hot Rats, The Grand Wazoo) is the best.

Apostrophe (') and Over-Nite Sensation both have a more classic rock sound, but they're still very enjoyable and some of Zappa's best albums.

My personal favorite, Over-Nite Sensation is less jazzy, more of a blues/classic rock sound, but still an enjoyable album.

Definitely 'Waka/Jawaka' next. After that try 'Make A Jazz Noise Here', amazing live album with a big band style line-up.
