A new, special Emkog Records interview is coming up, Guillermo. Me too like Dan and his projects. |

Extraordinary interview!
Now that I've got the Emkog sampler I can say I am really excited with all Dan's projects.

Very good read! I can see why I missed this when it was posted - I wasn't aware of Bentham to Behemoth at that time, now it's an album that I strongly recommend. Looking forward to Dan's new releases, indeed.

Wow...
The music just POURS out of this guy's pen.
I have spent the last three weeks listening to nothing but "August In the Urals", "Bantam to Behemoth" and "The Form Of The Good"...
A compositional genius.

Oh, wow, I didn't realize it had moved so far up on the list! I was disappointed in how it went largely ignored in the Collbarators' top albums of the year poll. I feel like it was #11 on their list but I'm not exactly sure, and it definitely deserved to be higher. I should probably get around to actually reviewing it myself though. Fantastic album! I can't wait for their next release! I also found it interesting that Dan Britton addressed the production of the Form and the Good which is what is keeping me from really getting into the album. :/ |

Thanks for the interview! Bantam to Behemoth is an incredible album that I've really enjoyed, and it's nice to see it motoring steadily towards the #1 of 2008 spot. It was good to kind of get inside Dan's head a bit, because based on Birds and Buildings (regrettably I haven't heard anything by CE or DG yet) he's someone I respect a lot as an artist

Great interview! Really interesting to read all that information and get to know Dan a bit better.
I'm very impressed by the music so far, and if it's any consolation for him, I really love The Form Of The Good. Like it a lot more than August in the Urals, though I really like that one even so (I'm not a fan of his vocals, but I've gotten used to them and I have to admit they suit the music well for the most part). |

Great interview! AMAZING to hear what you guys (Deluge Grander) went through to play ProgDay 2009 this year. We had a similar situation with us saying "yes" in late-May and then having to rehearse 90 minutes of songs with a new drummer and finding a guitarist for the warm up gig to ProgDay AND then flying in our studio guitarist for the show 4 days before playing it!

Thanks for the interview, a highly interesting read. As soon as my financial situation improves a bit, I shall give Deluge Grander and Birds & Buildings a try!
Mr. Britton seems like a stand-up guy, I particularly liked his comments about prog reviewers: 'I suspect that if you gave a prog reviewer a Joni Mitchell album, they’d say it sounds like “stripped-down Renaissance meets Jethro Tull with a touch of Marillion.” ' So true, so true! ![]() |

Thanks for this fascinating interview!
At the moment, there's a thread on "future classics" of prog, and there's no doubt in my mind Dan Britton is going to be one of those classics. You have to love the guy, just for writing (and getting people to perform) such ambitious music! |

Great interview Assaf!
![]() Before this, I actually thought you knew Dan a little bit better than I did. I guess we both knew the music more than the man himself. However, this interview falls right in line with the impression I have always gotten. Not only is he an extremely talented and creative musician, but a great guy as well. You know, he sent me a copy of "The Form of the Good" without as much as a hint that it was coming. One day it just showed up in my mail box.

Yeah, he's very easy coming and friendly, at least from our short online contacts. Though different in approach (as he says himself) do try Deluge Grander's albums. A definite joy to listen to, I find. Also, Dan wrote to me that yesterday Deluge Grander opened for Karmakanic, Agents of Mercy at the Orion last night and performed Inaugural Bash, A Squirrel, and Aggrandizement. |

Thanks Jim,
I myself learned new things from this interview, which is what my aim was - to get to know this musicians/composer better and see the man behind the music. Indeed the musicians he's gathered around him in both bands are highly talented and it's a delight to listen to the albums, and hear them shining. Hope more people read this and get to know the music and the people behind it. |

Awesome Assaf!!
I look forward to reading this more slowly when I have time, but just skimming it was great. I disagree though with Dan's comments that there is a "herd mentality" among our reviewers, I think our reviewers are very independent. Lord knows we have some epics debates about whether (name any album) is great or sucks ![]() Also want to say that Dan's drummer was in another band in ProgArchives archives called Chaos Code, a great little band that doesn't get enough attention. Check them out, Deluge fans!! Thanks to Dan and Assaf. ![]() ![]() Edited by Finnforest - October 15 2009 at 18:59 |
