Gotta go with KC, although Tull is a close 2nd.

Would've been Nektar or Rush, but I went with GG. These guys have hard-ass vocals, amazing riffs, and everything rock you could ask for from a prog band! Giant is one of my favorite prog tracks, so GG gets my vote.

I'm not voting because Rush isn't on here!
seriously, how could you not put them? I know it's ben said enuf tho so sry lol
But they are the band over anyone on the list here that i rock out to the most and easiest. Especially when Lee has vocal moments like in 2112 and countless others.... Need to listen to some Rush now, sorry for being a fanboy

Voted for ELP, solely based on Blues Variations from Pictures.

I would go with one missing: Kansas.
But following the poll, I don't understand why Genesis is so ignored, with songs as: - The Knife.
- Musical Box
- Giant Hogweed
- Get 'em Out by Friday
- Harold the Barrel
- Dancing with the Moonlit Knight
- Battle for the Eping Forest
- The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway (Pure Rock)
- Into the Cage
- Dance on a Volcano
Few Prog bands have so many Rock tracks.
And the ROCK!!!!

Because a lot of them are laced with frilly keyboard bits (re: Selling England by the Pound) and it just doesn't sound right for rocking. I'll give you "The Knife" for sure, and I'll throw in a bonus "Land of Confusion" !

Any band making an album such as Red simply cannot be behind in this poll.

Camel. Songs like "Supertwister" and "Another Night" are great rockers.

Tull. Just watch some of the mid - 70s video clips on this site and you will see. This is not to say that the other bands don't rock as well. Not even Rush rocks more.

Inspired by crimson87's poll about Genesis' most rocking album, I have decided to get an idea of who is the most rocking classic prog band. I have chosen these artists because of the popularity and classic status they have achieved. I would be glad to hear why a band I left out rocks the most. Out of the bands I have listed, I vote for Jethro Tull. They have many songs that are heavily blues inspired. Even their most progressive albums have moments of sheer rockingness. They also seem to have more rock type guitar riffs.

Well did you think I wasn't going to mention Rush being the most rockin'?
And they fit into the classic Prog era as well. They started out as a blues based band.
