Suppose I'll be the first to nominate Mike Portnoy and his Amazing Technicolor DreamBeard

That's the first beard I thought about too. That's the only reason I like Toto. That's the best beard in music period.

Oops, forgot to add commentary re my previous post: Alan White deserves a nomination, especially in the 'stache category. Here, he even has a bit of beard (though nothing like the Relayer era. . .)

1. Rick Wright looks SCHWEET with that beard on MEDDLE's inside cover!
2. I never really knew PERCY (aka Robert Plant) once sported a beard until that Led Zep DVD came out a few years ago. The picture of him and Page earlier on in this thread is SO CUTE! 3, At one point in the mid-seventies all members of Soft Machine sported drooping moustaches! You can easily follow facial hair development within the band in the splendid full-colour booklet that came with the TRIPLE ECHO LP-set (as yet unavailable on CD, unfortunately). 4. For polling purposes, I hesitate between Robert Wyatt, Phil Collins (circa 1976) and Ian Anderson. The latter probably wins. Especially for his look in the early days (1970/1971). Hurrah! |

Definitely this...
Now, Jon Anderson looks a little more like this... Might not be big, but it ain't size that counts... :D More than anything, its the fact that the beard was once attached to Jon Anderson that makes it my favourite. |
