I have Cross Purposes Live on DVD, but many tracks are missing. I'm waiting for a re-issue of that one with the full concert.
The Moscow concert you mention is a bootleg and not an official release. I think it is called Headless In Russia. I have never seen it, but would like to! Maybe it will get an official release someday. |
Oh, but it is now official! I've seen it in stores! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Black-Sabbath-Moscow/dp/B001DJVNO4

Wow! Thanks a lot! I did not know that. I will order it straight away! I hope it is the whole show, and good sound and picture quality.

No problem!

I know you're just teasing, but personally, even if Black Sabbath is one of my all time favourite bands, I would not call myself a Metal fan in general. Very few of my other favourite bands are Metal bands. And I don't like at all most Metal of the 80's, 90's and 00's. Black Sabbath is much more than just a Metal band for me.

You're not crazy, their voices ARE kinda similar. Both have real power without being cheesy-power-metal-crap. And the Martin-era albums aren't meh. They're really diffrent from Ozzy & Dio era Sabbath. They sound fresh and powerful! Headless Cross, Valhalla, The Shining, The Sabbath Stones, Devil & Daughter, When Death Calls... Ahh...

^TYR is one of the few METAL albums I enjoy!! It's really powerful, and call me crazy, but Tony's singing in moments reminds me to Dio The Eternal Idol and Headless Cross have some good tunes, but overall they're quite meh, not bad, but nothing really new, though that's me... I'm no die-hard Sabbath fan, but I still enjoy a whole bunch of their music

If you like Headless Cross and TYR I am sure you will like Eternal Idol as well. It is not quite as good as those, but almost. It is not as strong in the drum department, Cozy was yet to join them. But there are great songs. The Shining is probably the best track, but I also like the acoustic instrumental Scarlet Pimpernel.
I also like most Black Sabbath albums, though I don't like Born Again, Dehumanizer and Forbidden. Cross Purposes is good even if I feel that they are trying a bit too hard to be contemporary on that one.
I am still searching for Cross Purposes Live, the only official album I don't have.

Yeah... I love the Tony Martin era aswell. (Well i love ALL eras och Black Sabbath more or less. The one i like the least is ofcourse the Glenn Hughes/Ray Gillen era) Headless Cross, TYR, and even Cross Purposes has some really good songs! I still havn't even heard "The Eternal Idol", though

I should explain. I am a big fan of the band and I really think that the Tony Martin-era (late 80's early 90's) is very underrated. I especially like the TYR album, but also Headless Cross and The Eternal Idol. These albums are also among the most progressive ones from Black Sabbath, and I am surprised that they are rated so low here on PA. That's why I was happy to see some selections from those albums
I think it is too bad that there is no official live album/video from this line up of the band with Cozy Powell on drums. His drumming is so powerful!
