Clap

Well said.

And I'm looking forward to Hammill's new album that he's apparently recording at the moment. Big%20smile

That would be the best. Big%20smile

Or a baboon, possibly a baboon playing the bassoon -- that would be even better!

Bassoonist in VdGG would be great.

The power trio line - up of Van Der Graaf Generator showed us great power and passion during the last year's tour. However, the studio album was, judging from the reviews, good, though a bit disappointing and the absence of Van driver Jaxon was clearly audible. Since Hugh Banton and Guy Evans are rather rhythm section than the pair of melodic virtuosos, most of the work went to Peter Hammill, who is frankly not that good instrumentalist. Besides, he's got just his voice and only two hands...

The creative genius of Mr Hammill deserves another voice to show all the intricacies of his art. Trisector was a bit simplistic in that matter.

So which great instrumentalist should join Van Der Graaf Generator to replace Mr Jackson? The task is not easy though, because all the traditional virtuosos, namely guitarists and keyboardists are rather excluded, the first due to the fact, that VDGG was never guitar-solo driven band, the other because of presence of Mr Hugh Banton...

My first obvious suggestions are Stuart Gordon, Graham Smith, Charles Dickie, Theo Travis, Chris Judge Smith perhaps (although I do not know which instrument could he play).
yet you still have time!
