Sounds cool. What's you take on Robert Fripp?

Gilmour is one of my favourite guitarists too. The man makes it look so damn easy it's ridiculous. To be able to play with such feeling...

I must brush up on my Slayer, I never really got into them. I really liked "War Ensemble" though. I was always more of a Metallica man in those days. I have to confess I don't think I've heard Randy Rhoads. Eddie Van Halen - that first Van Halen album still sounds great now!

I'm a useless - well, novice - guitarist really, but I love the work of the usual suspects I guess - Jimmy Page, Blackmore and that lot. Johnny Greenwood took electric guitar playing to some interesting places for a bit.

It's such a curious art though isn't it?

Really I think in an ideal world I'd be able to play like Nick Drake. He wrote some damn fine stuff.

Interesting influences.

Influences I can't escape? I can't escape old school Slayer riffs!! My fav guitarists are Eddie Van Halen (reason I started playing guitar), Randy Rhoads and Dave Gilmour. I can't stand the w**kery of guys like Malmsteen.

Nowadays, I find myself playing more stuff influenced by post-rock and drone, I'm interested in exploring new musical avenues and improvisational type stuff.

Not particularly, i like to experiment with it a lot. That said, there are some favourite singers of mine that it wouldn't suprise me have crept in to the way I sing. I'll give you a list and it might give you an idea:

Roger Waters
Jon Anderson
John Wetton
Greg Lake
Paul McCartney
Bernard Sumner
Prince
Robert Plant
Scott Walker
David Bowie
Beth Gibbons
Billie Holliday
Nina Simone

I could go on and on and on, but that'll do for now!

Alright then, how about you and that axe, then? Any influences you can't escape?

Ah, Hip hop is one of the few things I categorically dislike. I don't mind using a drum machine. Do you have a specific vocal style that you sing in or like to emulate?

I mess about with guitar, but I wouldn't use the word play yet to be honest... still hit far too many bum notes for that! I'm a singer basically, although I have messed around with keyboards myself in the past too. Yours is the first reply I've had here. It's been tough to get much interest anywhere, to be honest. One guy I know who produces beats & stuff was interested, he's very much into hip hop though, so not sure if it's compatible!

I play guitar mainly and have some keyboards I fool around with on occasion. What do you play? Have you found anyone else? I'm used to playing Metal but I'm looking to play something different to expand my horizons.

Where abouts in Northamptonshire are you? I'm on the border of Worcestershire\West Mids and I'd most likely be willing to make the trek. Its tough finding like minded musicians in this neck of the industrial woods.

Hi everybody. I'm looking for musicians in the UK, Northamptonshire specifically, for a project I'm looking to develop.
I'm a singer/lyricist/appalingly bad guitarist with absolutely no professional experience, so I'm refreshingly not cynical/naive (whichever you think!) and I would like to invite players/singers to be a part of a musical collective with the main aim of creating music that goes wherever it will take us!
Experience/ability are not the key factors here - musical kinship is more the point. (Yes, I appreciate that may develop the better a player you are, but like I say, I'm pretty much an amateur, and it would be pointless to be way out of my depth right from the start. That said, I'm not going to turn down Steve Howe, if you see what I mean!)
OK, enough jabber. If you're intrigued, please let me know and let's see what happens.
Thanks for reading!
