I think the new Rush comparison is some group of dumb like Enchant or Tiles.

Pink Floyd.....Pendragon or Floyd's 80's 90's era.
Genesis........Marillion or IQ or Genesis 80's era
Yes............The Flower Kings or Yes 00's era.
King Crimson...The Tangent
Rush...........don't know Rush, since I don't like them.

Are you referring, then, to the post-Discipline version of the band?
 
any version of King Crimson beyond the 70s versions, ie the reformed 80s version or the more recent double trio, projects etc. Specifically, the 4 man 80s version or the double trio from 95-96 would fit the bill

btw, the idea here is to find a fairly close match in sound to each particular band, ie a parallel career and sound
 
mine would be:
 
1. Porcupine Tree
2. IQ
3. Flower Kings
4. King Crimson
5. undecided--have to think more on that one
