Bienvenido, Alex!

If avant-prog is your cup of tea, you might want to visit our wonderful FREE Legal MP3 downloads of Prog music thread. There's a Swedish band called Myrbein on there that you might enjoy. Their nutty Crimson-esque style is dizzyingly fun.

Hi to all,

My name is Alex, I'm from Costa Rica, and I'm a very faithful reader of progarchives from some time ago, great site!!!

Since in this little country it's very hard to find good (or at leats any Cry) prog bands (maybe you can check Time's Forgotten, they're quite good!!! Wink), I'm more familiar with other countries bands.

My favorite subgenre is the Avant-Prog (including Zeuhl), followed close by Eclectic prog. Bands like Mr. Bungle, Sleepytime Gorilla Musseum, Magma (obviously), Koenjihyakkei, P.O.N., Bondage Fruit, Yolk, Sebkha-chott are between my favorite.

In the eclectic style, I like Kevin Gilbert (my favorite), A.C.T., Gentle Giant, Crimson, Var Der Graaf Generator, Esperanto, The Dear Hunter, Birds And Buildings, Bubu, Taal, etc..

I'm not very familiar with folk bands (except Tull) but I know some great bands like Gryphon, Harmonium, Los Jaivas, Madden & Harris, and I'm open to receive some recommendations (and if they have some avant taste, great!!).

I Also listen other bands in the jazz-fussion style like Area, Mahanvishnu Orchestra, EZoo, SBB, Al Di Meola and At War With Self Ermm.

I don't like too much the metal bands (except from Pain of Salvation maybe...) but there's always something good to listen to Wink, recently I listened to Lost Horizon's A Flame To The Ground Beneath, I liked Ouch

Other bands I would like to mention to: Battles, Don Caballero, Dysrythmia, Hella, Maudlin Of The Well, Tool, Indukti, Kayo Dot...

Prog bands and subgenres I don't like: Nothing neoprog (Marillion, IQ), Dream Theater, Flowerkings, Tangent, Fates Warning, Symphony X...

Well, sorry for the first long post Confused
This is not my beautiful house...
