How about Negura Bungent? Super atmospheric, chill black metal, think of WitTR, but cut out the intesity and add more keyboards.

Having Assaf post in a thread before you can be very frustrating. You don't have a chance of getting an original reccomendation in after he's made his way through the thread.

I think they were approved for the PMT and are waiting to be added (if I recall correctly, but anyway, it's in their chart at www.ratingfreak.com)

Also, have a look at Sculptured!

Their new album Embodiment (to be released on 19/2 through The End Records) is spectacular!

Their earlier releases are also highly recommended.

I will be doing an interview with Don Anderson from the band (and form Agalloch and Especially Likely Sloth) for another website soon but I'll post it in PA as well.
If all goes well, I'll announce another interview for another band soon.

also rule out because I know of/have albums by:

Secret Chiefs 3
Estradasphere
Kayo Dot
Subterranean Masquerade
Ulver

Oxiplegatz - Sidereal Journey
Solefald - Linear Scaffold & Neonism
Pan-Thy-Monium - whatever you can lay your hands on

And others I posted before:

I like bands like Mr. Bungle, Estradasphere, Unexpect, Peccantum, Fantomas, Subterranean Masquerade and Sleepytime Gorilla Museum.

What do you think I would like?

Secret Chiefs 3 was a great suggestion.

Also try Age of Silence and Diablo Swing Orchestra.Clap

If you haven't given them a try yet, Secret Chiefs 3!

Trey Spruance does a wicked job with these albums, that still have the genre-hopping of Mr. Bungle just focused more around arabic type music (they also sound a lot like estradasphere off your list there).

Also, try John Zorn's stuff (starting with Naked City, which is downright jaw-dropping)

There ya go!

Any discussion involving Mike Patton and metal has to include a nod to his incredible collaboration EP with the Dillinger Escape Plan - "Irony Is A Dead Scene". That stuff is insane ... chaotic, violent, and bizarre. The track "When Good Dogs Do Bad Things" is intensely awesome.
