I too use adblock plus, thanks to MikeEnregalia, and it works great for my needs.

I've recently switched to Firebox as my browser. The ad blocker suggested by Bhikkhu worked perfectly for Safari; however, what can I use for Firefox? Much to my amazement, this site insists on having banner ads with sound.
