Check out this fabulous footage: http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=1501344249
I haven't seen it on YouTube so it's been a great pleasure, also because of the surprise one of the performers comes up with after the middle of the video. ![]() |

I first heard/saw the concert Young did where he did the album acoustic. It sounded pretty awesome. Got the CD and wasn't a big fan of it at first but after a few more listens it great on me. I like the concept and the album art and the long long jams. Its a good album. |

Wot? No Frank Marino? No Triumph? Are you absolutely sure you're Canadian? Not the folk type, eh? Listen to Neil Young's "Weld", that's not quite as folky as you may imagine... I'll give you a clue: when I first played it, I wondered if my CD player was OK, and when I played it to a friend, his comment after the first track was "is it supposed to sound like that?" If you look up the expression "distortion" in the dictionary, here's the current definition: ![]() |

Mmm...maybe not quite loved it, but I think it's at least a 3.5/5. I love Be the Rain, wholly. ![]() |

Definitely, man! That is one of my favorites - it's just dripping with atmosphere... It's so gorgeous.
What's everyone's opinion on Greendale? I thought it was fantastic, but it got mixed reviews from people. The acoustic performance that comes with the CD is just as amazing.

I love more than a few Canadian bands ; Rush, Saga, The Tea Party, I Mother Earth, Groovy Aardvark, Grimskunk, Annihilator, Voivod, Obliveon, etc...
Many, many great bands hail from Canada, and I am proud. I'm just not the folk type.

I have Neil Young in my car and listen almost everywhere I go. My curren favourites (which will probably change in a day or two) are: Razor Love, Music Arcade, Out On The Weekend, Sail Away and Thrasher. Not the titles that usually come up in a Neil Young thread.

The "After the Gold Rush" and "Harvest" albums are my favourites and still get a regular airing, fabulous sound quality too.

I've been listening to Neil Young practically all my life, due to my father's obsession over his music. I'm not quite as obsessed, so to speak, but I do think he's one of the most gifted songwriters of our time.
My favorite Neil Young tune comes from the otherwise slightly mediocre "American Stars 'n Bars" album, BUT it isn't "Like A Hurricane" (although I can't emphasize enough how good that song is). "Will To Love" is a strong contender for the most beautiful song ever, as far as I'm concerned. It sounds like a slightly sloppy demo, recorded over some campfire, but the atmosphere is absolutely amazing. I can't believe no one ever mentions it. |
