Well, Hollywood films tend to suffer from pretty much everything.....remakes, sequels...tom cruise.....bad tv actors turned into bad movie actors.  You know the whole shabang.

I agree Korean films are some of the best made and most interesting right now. Sadly I can't recall any titles but the whole genre is up to some great things.

Tale of two sisters wasn't too bad.  The only problem I've noticed in the asian horror flicks is that they generally have endings that either suck or don't suck as much as others.

I love Asian horror films. The Grudge, The Phone, The Eye, The Ring, Shutter, Feng Shui, name it! I Still have have to see that one Snowie. Thanks for the heads up.

A big fan of Asian cinimar here.

A Tale Of Two Sisters is already on my "wish list" and sounds like its going to be a very good.

For those that have seen Oldboy I recommend the follow up, Lady Vengance. The stories are in no way linked but it shares similar themes. Personnally, I find it to be superior to Oldboy, though both are great.

The Infernal Affairs trilogy from Andy Lau and Alan Mak is a brilliant series of films (The Departed is the hollywood re-make of the first film in the trilogy).

Yes Mr. SnowieTongue, a thread dedicated to Asian Film would be awesome, I'm trying to expand my knowledge on asian film but for the moment I'm stuck, so I could really use some recommendations.

It's a pretty sadistic sketch, not at all in the mood of Oldboy; interesting, though.

Beautifully crafted movie, for me structure and over all cimeatography sits a notch above the popular 'Ring' and 'Grudge'. A must for anyone interested in psychological thrillers.

andu, thanks for those recommendations. Both my girlfriend and I are deeply interested in the Asian film scene. Over these last few years we have made our way through the Japanese scene, time to move onto the Korean.

Korean school of film is one of the best right now, let me recommend you my favourites:

a dramatic symphony about violence and destiny... amaizing!
 
Ki-duk Kim's "Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter... and Spring" - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0374546/
 
an eastern allegory on the cycle of life and death, sin and redeaming; a minimalistic script ( i don't think there are more than 30 lines the whole film, but you never get bored) and direction, great acting and overall: masterpiece!
 
Also the Taiwan/Hong-Kong school is excellent, it's leader Wong Kar Wai is praised as one of the greatest directors of today. Try his "In the Mood for Love" - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118694/
 
a lovely, tender film about deciding destiny; one of the greatest love stories EVER!

Yes it is similar. The tension just builds up slowly until you jusr want to run and hide!Big%20smile  Its one of those films where your saying "don't open that door/curtain!",
 
I would recommend it if you enjoy The Grudge and stuff.

Ah well I quite like that "hide behind the sofa" feeling (probably something to do with Dr. Who at Saturday teatime when I was a nipper...).

I saw a film today. It was Korean and its title is "A Tale Of Two Sisters".
 
 
 
Scared the crap out of me.Ouch
 
 
First time I actually shouted out involuntarily at a film.LOL
