Sorry. You did not fool me. "Black Mass Lucifer was one of the first records I ever bought and it is still in mint shape. Not very good though; ancient proto synth but still a supurb collectors' item.
Question: why in the world is Doggerel Bank not listed on this site? "Silver Faces" was definitely prog rock and "Mr. Skillikorn Dances" is folk-prog. And where is Jackson Heights, or Umberto Balsamo? (Balsamo's 2003 CD is fantastic!)

Try their "Join Inn", A-side has jamming resembling HENDRIX, and B-side has a great abstract ambient voices! |
Way beyond Hendrix (the jam is 20 minutes, which is edited out of an apparently much longer piece!)
Also, the Private Tapes are a great source for all aspects of Ash Ra's music (ambient, freakout jams, electronic soundscapes, jazzy krautrock...) some parts really remind me of TD's early '7's stuff, plus that of Schuzle (no wonder, it was Schulze who found the tapes in Göttsching's bag, and urged him to publish!)
(I'm temporarily here... I'll get going again. hope to be back soon !)

Haven't heard the BS track.
Try Mort Garsons Black Mass/Lucifer. Superb, dark electronic (Moog mostly) stuff from '71. Satanic & catchy,

I'll deliver a reply from Bilek here, who has currently problems with logging in:
Aaron: if you're still watching this topic, I have some recommendations. (sorry for the delay; I am off-computer on weekends, and this Monday they modified internet access at work, so I can only convey this message by Eetu's grace for the time being ;) )
When I first listened to the track this weekend, it immediately reminded me of Tangerine Dream's early '80's stuff, and I was sure about one particular melody, possibly the end section of a long live improvisation; with the possibility that the same section being released part of a soundtrack... After a mind-twisting search through most of the early '80's stuff, I finally recongized the part in my head in a live album. (I still haven't found the probable soundtrack piece.. if anyone knows, please let me know ;) )
Actually most of TD's early '80's releases are in the same vein, but this melody, the last three minutes of Poland ('84 live album, title track) sounded particularly similar to me, especially the bass riff. the last minutes from Fassbinder Memorial Concert (disc 7 of Bootleg Box Set vol. 2) also features a similar melody/riff... (both tracks feature electronic drums or rhythm machine in addition to Sabbath's riff-only track)
lastly, I recommend most TD stuff from the beginning up to mid-'80's, because almost all of their material have the same dark atmosphere, especially these albums are masterpieces:
Phaedra Ricochet Stratosfear Force Majeure Tangram Alpha Centauri and the entire Bootleg Box Set (vol. 1 and 2) include great live improvisations from this period, despite the somewhat poor sound quality...

It leads into the title track, and it was the opener for the 81-83 tours

it's more like 3 minutes long, and no it doesn't really go anywhere, but neither does electronic prog
it just has a cool dark atmosphere, it isn't pussified with all the
bloops and blips, but it is a short dark spacey track, it's good, not a
highlight or anything, but i would be into a band that played something
in this same style
peace

I'll probably check it tonight. Apparently I will have time for the song; but locating the mp3 including that album, taking it out of the shelf, placing into my computer and finding the song will take more time, I believe ! (all songs are located in a single file, named in a system such as "sabb6901" that is, -black sabbath - s.t. album,- s.t. track- ... etc. ) man, even writing this took much of my time ...
speaking of which, for me Ozzy era Black Sabbath is the one that actually "rulez"... Sabbath Bloody Sabbath with Wakey on keyboards, and brass-backed Never Say Die albums are simply great!
