The "Errorsafe" programme was also picked up on my computer by Spybot, but not by Norton Antivirus, after going to the "listen to Aural Moon" link........so I shan't be going there again.......

I don't think the site sends ads to firefox to the same extent; or at least when I tell Opera to identify as Mozilla I don't get the popups. |

I've just found out what the problem is: If I move the cursor over the Aural Moon logo on the following Prog Archives page:
the URL displayed in the bottom left of the IE window is:
HOWEVER, that is not the Aural Moon URL, which is the following:
If you use the real Aural Moon URL, then you can listen to Aural Moon without any problems.
Next question, why is the URL on Prog Archives not the correct URL?

I experience the same as crimson thing. Actually, it crashes Internet Explorer.
Pity, because I know Aural Moon is a good Internet radio 'station'.

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/errorsafe.html
It shows up on virus scans, so I'd imagine not much that's very pleasant! |

Thank you - I appreciate the technical advice, but in practice I'll just avoid Aural Moon.......
BTW, does anyone know exactly what that "Errorsafe" programme actually does? (I'm guessing it's not what they say it does....... )

is I guess what the problem is. As a temporary workaround, javascript can be disabled in the settings of your browser - I don't know of any browser that allows you to change that setting for individual sites though (edit: I'm an idiot and it's right there on the screenshot so Opera at least does it, and it doesn't get shown to Firefox.), so if you want to look at Aural Moon without annoying adverts you'll have to keep changing that option. There is also a Windows program that allows access to the Aural Moon stream without having to go through the website, but unfortunately I can't remember what it is called at all. I would gladly - if I knew how to do that...........the other point is that my wife (she's the thing household's chief admin & webmaster ) isn't too happy about going to that site again.
If you've looked & found nothing bad, then ok. Personally, when I go there, the "error safe" ad covers so much of the radio site, that there's no way of getting to the underlying site. But if you're sure there's nothing bad, then leave it at that. Incidently, I'm currently listening to the "Delicious Agony" prog radio station - and enjoying it....... |

Ok,I have checked it out using both Firefox and IE (7)
I also use Norton Internet Security. I cannot see any ads malicious or otherwise but obviously I dont doubt that you are correct. Please could you provide "screenshots" so I can pass them on to Max,our webmeister. Edited by Tony R - June 17 2006 at 18:26 |

Aural Moon is a genuine Internet radio station. I have accessed it at some point although I can't remember that. On the other hand, their choice of advertising is not exactly satisfactory...

Hmmm. The error safe pop up is a dialog, not a pop-up, so that would explain why your anti popup (and mine for that matter) do not detect it. Same holds for the error safe window, which is an ugly overlay.
Looks like they allow the wrong kind of ads on their site, but their news page was not updated since november either.... I would agree with removing, but I do not have the power to do so... Angelo |
