I sincerely hope none will - this whole prog-related thing is a joke IMO.

Don't let Ted in - my ears still hurt from when I saw him at Hammy Odeon in 1977! Him and his bloody glass ball. Seriously, I wouldn't be surprised to see Rainbow in here, but only for the first 3 Ronnie James Dio albums. |

ahh... crap... it is not ' if x then y' ... the groups are judged on their merits... The Beatles are the very definition of proto-prog Deep Purple and Queen had significant prog phases of their careers before moving on to other phases for which they are more well known. There isn't a damn thing prog about Zeppelin... other than they were influenced by the prog groups at home such as Yes.. and incorporated SOME prog elements in their music. |

Well you made my point but I wanted to add that I've been listening to some of the new stuff prog has to offer, Spock's Beard and Mars Volta in particular; the bands often reference Zeppelin. |

Hello, As most of you know that have a sense of humor, this is for the most part a lighthearted poll, though certainly it raises the complicated matter of who gets in and who doesn't and why. But for sure, it is a little bizarre to see a review of Beatles "Past Masters Vol. 1" (which as is about as proto-prog as a hula hoop) listed beside a review of "Pawn Hearts" but that's what we've got now, for better or worse. And that's fine with me, but certainly "The Who Sell Out" is as proto prog as most Beatle albums, and to make an argument that it's not, well, is mere sophistry. I think it's time to open the door and let in all the other sixties and seventies bands that pushed the envelope of the basic rock form with their music. Personally, if members are going to review "Hard Day's Night" there's no reason why a review of "Who's Next" shouldn't be discussed as well. Let the sunshine in... |

I think The Who, and since The Beatles are here, Who have enough merits to be here than the Fab 4.

The Beatles are already here ... out of the others, I think that The Who and Rainbow have the best chances of getting in, although I personally wouldn't vote for their inclusion.

Led Zeppelin
I love the Kinks one of the greatest bands that ever existed but they have no business here. IMO there is no need to add more rock giants from the past. |
