Mystic Fred,

See the "Inappropriate Reviews" in the forum Report Abuse Here, where these matters are discussed.

However, we have to observe the following points:

  1. This is a non-prog album from a proto-prog band - I believe that for understanding only the basic information is needed.
  2. The review even not being great complies with our minimum guidelines: number of words, information about the album and songs, English language, no disrespect for the band or any other review. Not my cup of tea, but it's OK.
  3. All reviewers had at some moment their first review (which is not the case). Even some of the most experienced PA reviewers are always complaining about their early reviews. Everyone is searching improvement all the time.
  4. If you read another review made by the same reviewer for another Beatles' album - "Abbey Road", now a real proto-prog album and also very important for the entire genre, you'll check that the reviewer explained far beyond and gave the album a high rating. IMO he got the point, from a prog-rock point of view.

As this thread is referring to a possible abuse and as we have another thread for these points, I'll close it.

THE BEATLES A Hard Day's night
2 stars
by N-man
Well, I used to like this album better two years ago, but now I don't find it too interesting. It's got a few shining moments: "A Hard day's night", and "Can't buy me love". But, the rest of the album comes from "Good, but non-essential" to "Poor". You know, these were their first years, they weren't getting to prog yet. Mostly, every song, by this time, were love songs, with simple, repetitive lyrics. I would only recommend this one to Collectors, or the beatle fans from 1962-65, who are not interested in prog.

regarding the above review, i find it offensive that a ground breaking album such as the above can be dismissed in a few lines or any way be regarded as "poor". Prog Archive administrators seriously need to monitor the content of essays by inexperienced reviewers on how a review should be structured  objectively and the reputation of a musician's work not to be insulted and thrown away in a few scribbled lines!!Angry
