I can strangle a canary in a tin can and it would be really original, but that wouldn't save it from sounding like utter sh*t.

Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking isn't prog? You've listened to it, right? And I still beg to differ about Amused to Death. I can sort of see where you are coming from but I still disagree. Besides, what I was arguing really was Waters' proggy-ness. And, being from Pink Floyd and inspiring almost everything they did, I am going to go ahead and say that he is quite the progressive genius. |

TT, While your initial post is based on exaggeration to make a point, there is an underlying accuracy to your perception of the site. The owners have indicated that they wish to widen the appeal of prog, by attracting in people who may not otherwise come across it. One of the strategies for doing this is through categories such as "Prog related". This inevitably means that this site will be more inclusive than other prog sites, that is how the owners chose to style it. There are of course plenty of other prog sites, with differing philosophies, so if this one doesn't work for you, you do have a choice. I mean no malice by that, it is just a pragmatic observation. You're attack on Tony R was misplaced and misinformed. Tony, like myself and Trostsky, is not one of the site owners. He simply gives up his time to administer the site, and to help the owners in achieving their vision. |

The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking is not prog, and Amused to Death is also not very progressive IMO. BTW: Feel free to create an account at my website and submit some song ratings. I think that it makes no sense to try to determine the progressiveness of a band. Well, we can try - but there will always be inconsistencies, because most of the controversial bands made some albums which are not progressive at all, and people who don't like the band will focus on these, while fans of the band will favor the more progressive ones. |

I tink that the prog-related bands they are where they belong, and is not like "they're not prog" just "they're close to be prog" but the George Michael disc is only here because is a Queen album, that's dont mean that he's prog or someting.
Speaking about the Aztec Sun stone, I found this and is litle chilling (it's in Spanish, so you beter use Babel Fish, or search the info in english) www.mexico-tenoch.com/profecia.html |

I am happy to believe you,but I wondered why you chose to single me out seeing as we have had no contact. How a non-member would come to the conclusion that I was resaponsible for policy or those inclusions is beyond me.Hence my thoughts that you werent all you seem to be. If Max ie "The Boss" wants the site to include Prog-Related bands then that's his prerogative and if our democratic system that allows Collaborators to choose bands to add occasionally lets in bands that dont meet universal approval, then I can live with that. 1 or 2 dodgy ones out of over 2000 aint bad. |

HAHAHAHAHAH!!! Roger Waters is considered 'Prog Related', man! And surely he is prog as all hell. By the way... I request that Waters be moved out of Prog Related if people regard him as such a poor musician because of it. Thyme Traveller. I like Styx. I think and Grand Illusion and Pieces of Eight are both prog albums. I really thought that the ability to make a thyme machine would have somehow shed more light on your knowledge of prog music. |

A shame you don't come from one more year in the future. Then you'll see what happens to this site once it is taken over by the Velvet Crew and renamed "Walrus Archives".

lol truth is sometimes funnier than fantasy. and I'm just being satirical. Overall, I enjoy progarchives. I just find the inclusion of triumph and a george michael album to be sort of amusing. And the Mayans are quite right. I know President (Hillary) Clinton was PMSing and everything, but she could have considered the rest of us when she decided to blow up the earth. I think I'll stick around this forum for a while...
my top 10 prog groups other than triumph and george mchael(the wham years):

That's funny you should say that. Glass Hammer covered Fogelberg's "Longer" on its Shadowlands CD. Although it is one of the weaker songs on that CD, they were successful in transforming a pop song into a fairly good prog song. On another point, if PA is so "diluted" in the future, why don't you just take all that energy you're putting into criticizing the site and make you're own? And finally, I would encourage you to remain in 2006, or go even further back if you like. You do realize that the world ends in 2012 according to the Mayan calendar? |

Prog Related essentially means "Not Prog". I'm surprised that some people can't get that into their heads. |

Ok,very funny. I am flattered that you believe I have so much influence on the site. Just for the record:Styx were on this archive long before I even knew it existed. As for Triumph, well I altered their "genre" from Art Rock to Prog-Related so that kind of tells you were I am coming from as far as they are concerned. The person who "added" Triumph is no longer with us. ELO? Well that wasnt down to me either. If I was the webmaster they wouldnt be here, but I am not. So,the guy responsible for the Prog-Related and Proto-Prog Categories is the webmaster,Max. He can be contacted via [email protected] if you really want to discuss your disatisfaction or is this whole thread a thinly disguised attack on me? Oh and multiple membership is prohibited and also very cowardly when used in this manner. Edited by Tony R |

majestic: my point wasn't to be silly, but to satirical about how this website which used to be so picky about what it would include in the archives, has gotten really sloppy over the past few months allowing bands like triumph, and a collaboration with george michael and lisa stansfield. of course, i don't believe britney spears or n-suck would ever be here, but the way this site is going... who knows ? if you are going to include "prog related", why not zeppelin, hendrix, or how 'bout the Beatles. Let's face it- without SPLHCB, there would be no prog. |
