Ride the lightining, was the first album that i ever bought from entire music, it was in 1990. A special one for me, , and remains among the best albums ever, i still listen to this album but not very often nowadays, like in my teens. Great stuff, like the all '80's Metallica albums aswell

I voted Master of Puppets, that is a fantastic album. I still have a soft spot for Kill em All, which I bought when it came out.
Isn't it surprising how there's hardly any votes for the last 3 albums................................?

Typically I would vote for S&M. A great double live album with a great orchestra, but sadly, it's not on the poll. I had a tough decision deciding between The Black Album and Master of Puppets, so I thought about for a minute and chose The Black Album.

^Kill 'Em All used to be my favorite Metallica album for perhaps more than a year. It's so inspired sounding.

I just re-listened to Kill 'Em All last night after years of dismissing it and it's actually an excellent thrash record, with songs like Seek and Destroy and The Four Horsemen that show a hint of progness in how the riffs are developed! Great album!

I saw them on that tour too - I was near the front at Hammersmith Odeon, and shook Cliff's hand at the end of the gig.
I was stunned when I read about the crash

Ride The Lightning, too many good songs to deny it.
Of course everything up to self titled was damn fine. Self title was alright, but it all went downhill from there.

My favorite is And Justice for All. Even with cardboard drums, no bass and Ulrich's weird style of drumming (weird yet very logical at times...)
My order would be:
1. And Justice for All
2. Master of Puppets
3. Metallica (Black)
4. Ride the Lightning
5. Load
6. Kill 'em All
7. Re-load
8. St Anger

^I can't say all the aspects of AJFA's production was bad. I like the rhythm guitar sound on it a lot actually, but it's the drums and the lack of bass that put me off a little.

I voted for ...And Justice for All, but the truth is that I regard their first four albums with equally high esteem. As an aside, I think I'm one of the very few that actually likes the production on "Justice."

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

As with MisterProg 2112, the only Metallica albums I can listen to the are the first four studio albums. AJFA was undeniably there must progressive and technical effort, while Kill 'Em All arguably the most pioneering, while I think Ride The Lightning was the most consistent in song quality. But the winner for me is going to have be Master Of Puppets. The last album to feature the legendary Cliff Burton and of course, the best Metallica instrumental song IMO, Orion
