Topic: Big brother vs. Little brother Posted: January 08 2006 at 21:35 |
the debut album is mainly boring apart from schizoid, but poseidon is great. I don't understand how anyone can choose the debut ;)

I like "Poseidon" a lot but I like ITCOTCK more. But the difference in my heart and mind is tiny between them.

I have to agree with that too!
While ITCOTCK Is a good debut album, it is often overrated, but still better than In the Wake of Poseidon!

I agree, and I'll add to it that ITWoP was very similarto ITCoTCK minus Cat food, which I like a whole lot (mainly cause of Keith Tippett). In the Court.... is definitely better in my book. Islands and Lizard are better than both though, IMO!

....hmmm.....lately, I'd have to agree!

Ok i've heard a few people say thay they prefere In the Wake of Poseidon, so I thought this would be a good idea.
I prefere In the wake of poseidon myself, why?
- Because instead of Moonchild you have the loud, dark, gloomy and powerful! The Devils Triangle. The first few minutes always remind me of the battle of Helms Deep in the lord of the rings
- It has Cadence and Cascade, beautiful, Haskells best vocal with the group
- Cat Food is so off the wall and unique, I love it
- The Peace sections give great contrast to the longer tracks on the album, particularly the intro, Pictures at a city just seems so much better after it!
- I also prefere the title track on this album over Epitaph. More mellotron and it doesn't seem to drag at the end. I do love Epitaph though, and In the court in general... so don't hate

People are always harsh on little brothers
I also think "In the Wake of Poseidon" is just about the coolest name for an album ever, and a great cover too.

you pretty much nailed my reasons.

In The Court Of The Crimson King
why?
- Moonchild - one of the most beautiful experimental pieces, genuine taste towards sounds and distant voices
- 21st Century Schizoid Man - classic piece
- Epitaph - very good
and with masterfull lyrics
by judging the album tehnically and through criticism,ITCOTCK comes better...by taste, personally it can alternate...
