Why not use purevolume.com or myspace.com? I think they have done wonders for starting bands trying to get out there.

Man, this is a great idea. A Prog Archives label would rule.
In reality, a Prog Archives compilation CD would be much more feasible, and probably very effective.

I myself have been trying to get a label interested for sometime now.
I am getting interest from music lovers all over the world and my sales are going well.
But labels wont take the chance.
I think this is a great idea, any idea for a new prog label is always good.
Maybe we could do a compilation Progarchives album of unsigned progarchives members to get the ball rolling ?
Take around 12 / 13 tracks for a single album or 24 / 25 for a double, get someone to do some artwork and sell it from this site, the site makes a little cash to put back into the site.
Progrchives gets its name in lights and the artists get some advertising.
We could send free promo copies to radio and other prog magazines for a review.
Could be good.

Are you kidding me? Yeah sorry for the FREE PUBLICITY to an
_established base of prog fans_, guys. I can see them having an issue
when they were downloadable, but come ON.

A Prog Archives label?! As if this site isn't already stretched til breaking point!
There are actually quite a few prog labels out there if you know where
to look. My favourites are Musea and Cuneiform (despite Cuneiform's
grumping over our samples of their signed bands).

He meant a record label . And yeah, I think that's a great idea, although somewhat unrealistic.

Fantastic idea... but running a label ain't easy, from what I hear.
Just running this site's gotta be a huge time investment!

What progarchives could do is make a label for up and comming prog bands. I myself am having alot of trouble finding a label that will take a prog band

That ain't a bad idea. There could be like a page on the site where you can listen to the bands and all, if they have stuff to record. But yeah, cool idea
