The only way to erase the mini dv is the blank shot method or just record over it!

It is tape not flash memory so you cant just press an erase button.

Ive checked the manual.

Yes they do, I've also got a manual but they only explain how it works in theory, which should be sufficent one would think, but not the problems that may occur. In any case i haven't found any text at all discussing this very problem. Quite frankly I think this is a dead end but you never know

I've got this video camera, DCR-PC9E PAL, (it's a sony) and im facing some problems with the erasing system.

So i've got these DV-tapes that I want to re-use but the time-code is so messed up that it isnt worth saving unless I manage to find some way to erase the cassette. you've got the "blank shot" method but that's just plain inconvienet. "but there must be an erase button?" some may say. And I'll answear "yes there is" however my problem is that this just wont work, according to the camera my dv-tapes doesnt have a "cassette memory" so it wont erase it! Where have i done wrong and how does a tape with "cassette memory" look like.

I know these are very esoteric questions. Hopefully atleast one of you will understand what im talking about
