I feel ashamed to say that after watching more than 600 episodes of the 5 main Star Trek series, I didn't even recognise his name at first ...

he didn't have quite the high profile of Rick Berman, Brannon Braga, Robert Hewitt Wolfe or a host of others I guess ... but if he started taking over during the third season of THG, then he really does deserve a lot of credit ... that's when the series suddenly became a lot better ...

"Death to Utopia! Death to faith! Death to love! Death to hope?" thunders the 20th century. "Surrender, you pathetic dreamer.”

"No" replies the unhumbled optimist "You are only the present."

Many of you may not know who he is, but he was the driving force behind the revitalization of Star Trek.  He was producer of The Next Generation beginning with its third season, and most will say that he is the one who saved the show from early cancellation.  He also co-created Deep Space Nine and Voyager.  Sadly, he died on Tuesday at the very young age of 57, after a long bout with cancer.  He will be greatly missed by all of those who appreciated his work on Star Trek.  May he rest in peace.

I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?
